2. Trustees, Annual Report for the Year Ended 31 March 2023
The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year er¢ded
31 March 2023.
Governance
The charity is a re8iStered charity and is governed by its Trust deed. It was first registered as a charity
on 21 January 1994 (Registered Charity number 10317791-
Trustees are appointed with a view to what they can offer the Trust in terms of experience, skills and
commitment. Trustees are appointed on the following basis:
2 councillors and l officer nominated by Woking Borough Council
I person nominated by the Central and Maybury Community Association
Up to 6 others are appointed by a panel made up of representatives from Woking Borou8h
Council and the Community Relations Forum
A new Trustee may be appointed by a resolution of the trustees recorded in the minutes and
518ned by the new Trustee and such record shall be conclusive evidence of his appoinlment.
The number of trustees shall not be less than 6 or more than 10.
Charltable oblerts
The charitable objects of the charity are to establish. maintsin and manage a community centre for
the use of the inhabitants of the borough of Woking without dishnction of ethnic origin, political
religious or other opinions including use for meetings, lectures and classes, and for other forms of
recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the sald
inhabitants.
Achlevements and perfomian
The Charity conlfnued it postlOVID operational recovery due to increased footfalls and increased
room hire by customers. The Centre's rooms/halls We￿ used by customer for social gatherings,
trainirtg, counsellin8, tuitron, physical activities Isuch as. karate ￿s5On$ and yoga lessonsl, arts and
crafts sessions, dance training and rehearsals, singing lessons, meetings, conferences and more. The
charity was successful in providing a safe and dynamic meetin8 place for people from all walks of life,
particularly from the local community.
Liaise Women's Centre continued its activities by enga8ing women and girls from the local
community with the help of dedicated volunteers runnin8 workshops, forums, language lessons, arts
and crafts session and music sessions. MO￿ than 25(M) women and girls used the *rvice throughout
the year.
The Schoolhouse project continued to offer weekty arts sessions for local community members, lead
by a qualified arts instructor and mentor.
We are grateful to Woking Borough Council who have continued to support the Centre through their
grant5 for the Centre and the Community Foundation for Surrey who have provided a grant for the
Liaise programme.

Financlal review
During the year the charity recelved Income of £146,23112022.. £106.0381. with expenditure
amounting to £113,15112022- £95.3321 resulting in a surplus of £33.08012022: surplus of £10.70711.
At 31 March 2023 there are unrestricted accumulated rese￿e5 of £44.43712022= £13.3531 and
restricted accumulated reserves of £27.30012022: £25,304).
The charity's income resulted from grants and from the hire of meeting rooms at the Maybury
Centre. Woking Borough Council provided unrestricted grant support in respect of the general
operations of the Centre and a restricted grant for the Liaise Women's cent￿ was received from the
Community Foundation forsurrev.
The financial results for the year to 31 March 2023 reflect an increase in the activities of the Trust.
Hire of rooms at the cent￿ have increased and our income from this area. Income in the year was
£146,23112022.. £106,038). As a result, the Centre returned a surplus of £33,08012022= £10,707).
The trustees are satisfied that the Charity has sufficient reserves and anticipated Income to enable It
to fulfil its commitments.

I report on the financial statements ofThe Maybury Centre Trust for theyear ended 31 March 2023
which are set out on pages 7 to 9.
Responsibilitles and basls of report
As the trustees of the charity, you are responsible for the p￿paration of the financial statements in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111.the Art").
I report in ￿SpeCt of my examination of your charity's financial statements as carried out under
section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and in carrying out my examination I have
followed all the applicable Directions glven by the Charity Commission under sethon 1451511bl of the
Act.
Independent Examlnees Ststernent
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have come to my attentlon in
connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect..
the accountin8 records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act,. or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records,. or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and
content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other
than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connectlon with the examination to
which attentfon should be drnwn in this report in order to enable a proper understsnding of the
accounts to be reached.

l. Accounting Policies
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the
Statement of Recommended Prattice.. Accounting and Reporting by Charities.
Income and expenditure are recognised when funds are received or paid. Expenditure has been
classified under headin85 that aggregate all costs related to the category. Where costs cannot be
directly attributed to particular headings. they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent
with the use of resources.
Restricted funds are funds that may onty be used for particular purposes within the objects of the
charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for partFcular
restrirted purposes.
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance wtth the charitable objectives at the disc￿tion of the
trustees.
