TRUSTEE’S ANNUAL REPORT

Cardigan Cancer Care year ending 30th November 2024

We continued to have a high profile in the local area with many people also following us on social media.

Our cancer patients now seem to have increased to more than 35 people on our books at any one time with new people being referred to us and of course replacing the number who sadly have passed away.

Our main support to them continues to be by way of cash donations to assist with transport to hospital appointments and other expenses.

We have many referrals from Macmillan and palliative nurses and of course other people in the medical profession and health support services.

We are still a small group of 6 volunteers aiming to support a geographic radius of approximately10 miles. However, it is impossible to ignore any request for help and we have not yet turned anyone down.

Very often we are able to contact and support the patient and families the same day. Since Covid and continuing bank closures, we are able to make immediate direct transfers making life easier for them very quickly.

Many people from all walks of life and businesses support our charity with various donations, in memoriam, and all sorts of fund-raising events and sponsorships and we are overwhelmed by their continued generosity. We continue to hold relatively healthy funds, although the current economic climate together with our cashless society is making a substantial dip, although we still aim to hold on to an amount set aside from a previous fundraiser originally set up to pay for injections for a young woman who didn’t survive. It has always been our intention to utilise those funds if a similar situation arises.

Our balance sheet shows our expenditure was almost £15000 more than our income this year. However, our income was down by almost that amount and our Christmas payments were made early in November which meant that this annual large expense was made twice this financial year and will rectify in the next account for 2025.
