8ARB Search & Rescue, fomied as the Bumham A￿a Rescue Boat in 1992, operates rescue hoveroTrft and
insho¥e rescue l)oats to save live& The charity helps aThJ rescues peoFAe in difficulty along Ihe Somerset coastline
around Bridgwater Bay and in-land across SomerseL
Our hoverGrats 8re called out regularly to help people strdrn1ed in mud along the coastline between
Burnharn-on-sea and Weston-super-mare, ¥the￿ va* expanses of mud are exposed at low tide. WAth
fast-incoming tides, quck rescues are critical to avoid loss of life.
BARB is njn entirely by a team of OV￿ 20 volurteers who receive training on various search and rescue skills to
ensure a professional. S￿Iled Grew is 8vailable 24 hours a day. The roles range from hovercraft pmlots and
swift-water technicians to rescue boat helms and furKjraise￿. Our team works closely alongside HM Coastguard
and other blue light services on call-outs.
A busy year for ourvoluntsers
During 2023, 8ARBÈ volunteers atteTtded over 20 call-outs. The call-outs ranged from missing pet50n searthes to
mud rescue5. Our volunteers gave 2,000+ hours of their time during 2023. showng their dedication and
Commitment to 8ARB's work in helF¥ng and rescuing people. FutKlra1sl￿ activities resumed after being paus￿1
during th8 Covid pandemic to comply restiiGtons.
Risks
Risks are regularfy reviewed durfng the BARB managemerrt committees morthly medngs. These are discussed
and mitigating actions are considered. One of the nsks around fundraising was tnitigat&l during the year ￿th a knnd
legacy donation towards the chartvs life-sav1￿ work and purchases.
Roservos
The charfty Is heavily dependeErt on sources of volutrtary income and the level of resetves has been deemed
necessary to enable the charity to meet its objeotiV8s in the nexttwenty four months and to provide for the eventual
replaoemert ofthe ￿ hovercrafL

Statement of Trustee, Responsibilities
The trustee are responsble for preparing the trustee, report and the financial statements in 8ccordatKe with the
United lQngdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdcrfn Gelleral￿ AcceF*ed Accounting Practice) and applieable
law and regulations.
The law applicable to chadlles requires the trustee to wepare finan(ial statements for each financial year which
glve a tru8 and fair view of the state of affai￿ of the charity and of the incoming resources 8nd application of
resources of the charity forthat pefiod. In weparing these finan(ial statements. the ttUStee are required to..

Charities Act 2011, the Charities {Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008. and the provisions of the conslitulion.

BARB meets the definition of a pubfic benefft entity under FRS 102. The aLxounts (financial statements) have been
prepared under the historical cost convention wth it6n￿ recogrysed at Gost or transa¢llon value unless olh6Mse
stated in the relwant note(s) to these accounis.
