## **- Trustee Report 2019 / 2020**

It was a very challenging year for the setting for a number of reasons. This was mainly Covid19, lockdowns and setting closures. However, we also had the blow from Sidegate Primary School that the lease we had on the building we rented for our Oaks setting, was to be terminated from July 2021.

We had numerous consultations regarding the lease and following contact with the local council, we were offered a modular building as an alternative space. However, we would have to raise a substantial amount of money to fund this project and modifications to make it fit for purpose.

No AGM was held last year due to the pandemic.

## **– Trustee Report 2020/2021**

This year has been another challenging one, with the continuation of the Covid pandemic, lockdown and school closures at the start of the year.

Our treasurer Lizzie sadly stepped down in February due to relocating back to Scotland so I have stepped into this role to assist with signing off payments etc, with the support of Jacky, and the managers.

This year, we have done various fundraising activities including,

- 2 virtual balloon races,

- A Live Cookalong with the head chef from Delia Smiths restaurant.

- A raffle was held at the end of the summer holidays, which raised over £300.

- One of our parents also kindly held a raffle on our behalf which was greatly appreciated.

We have been truly supported by our parents and local businesses/people throughout the year with donations to our GoFundMe account and the fundraising done by the committee. This, in addition to numerous funding and grants which were applied for in respect to our new building project. So, thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Trustee training carried out includes;

- Trustee roles & responsibilities &

- Essentials for treasurers and trustees

Due to the preschool being a registered charity, having a committee is a legal requirement and we need to have a certain number of members for it to run. If we don’t gain enough additional members, we will have no option but to close the preschool. This is obviously something we don’t want to happen so we would really encourage parents to volunteer and support us with this. Thanks to those who have already made contact – emails have been sent out with the information needed and next steps.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally say a massive THANK YOU to both managers; Catherine & Sandra and without a doubt, to extend this to all the staff across Acorns and Oaks who have all played their part. With the obvious stresses of the pandemic and everything that has brought with it, alongside the new building project – funding, planning, meetings, and moving etc, as well as the general day to day running – closures, reopening, updates and covid measures put in place; you have all been amazing. Your hard work and dedication to Little Acorns over the last 18 months and more has been massively appreciated to everyone, so thank you.
