## **Bideford Baptist Pre-school Managers/Chairpersons Report Year 2022-23 AGM 13[th] October 2023** Thank you all for coming today to support your pre-school – For those of you who haven't been to an AGM before, I'll just explain why we need to hold them. As a charity with a constitution, (copies available) we are run by a committee of volunteers, usually parents and interested people. The committee are the pre-school employers, who employ the staff to run the pre-school, toddlers and administration. We are grateful to the Baptist Church for allowing us to use their premises, we certainly have grown since from our small beginnings from 2 mornings a week for 2.5 hrs, to almost all week 8 hrs a day! The year has passed by very quickly and by the end of the year we had 68 children registered – sending 24 to school and 7 to nursery. In July Sadly we had to cancel the Nativity and Christmas Fayre, due to there being so many children and staff off sick! Despite this we raised an amazing £440.40 from our surprise gift bags and children being sponsored to wear Christmas clothes. Our Easter Fayre and Sponsored Bonnet Parade raised £758.30 – thank you for everyone who supported these events. Staff are continuously training– this year they renewed their child protection training, Paediatric 1[st] Aid amongst other numerous other updates including funding, special educational needs. Pre-school lunches are proving to be a great success and have been £1 since 2016. We restarted the toothbrushing scheme, which is currently on hold due to the contract being given to another company and we are awaiting their information. The Christmas and Summer term parties were held at WOW and everyone had a great time, even though numbers for the Christmas party were lower than usual. Sadly like a lot of things, the school sweatshirts and T-shirts seem to go up in price, each time we place an order, but we try to keep the price as low as possible are currently £8 sweatshirt & £4 t shirts – available from the pre-school. Most of the pre-school funding comes from Devon County Council in the way of the Early Years Funding for 2yr olds + 3-4 year old funding, although this year more parents payed for childcare as we took in extra 2 year olds. However, fundraising is still a vital part in helping us stay afloat and enable toddlers to continue, without raising their prices too much. I have put out some copies of our accounts for you to look at and if anyone has any questions, please ask. Without your continued support the pre-school would not be able to run and serve the local community. We will be looking for parents to become committee members and this can take as little or as much of your time as you wish to give.
