## **Managers/Chairpersons Report Year 2020-21** 

## **AGM 10[th] November 2021** 

This again has been an unusual year, although the pre-school opened up as usual after the summer holidays, it wasn’t until April this year that the toddler group re-started. 

We began with a good number of children on the register, sadly not being able to hold our Nativity Play in the church due to Covid restrictions, we provided parents with DVD copies of the children singing the Christmas story and we had pick a gift bag as a fund raising event instead of the usual Christmas Fayre which raised an amazing £108.  We also provided pre-school photos taken by Emma, a Christmas Eve box and we held our own Christmas party. 

Again the Easter Parade was cancelled, as social distancing couldn’t be achieved in the upstairs hall and also Sports Day, but that had nothing to do with Covid but the weather! 

We were able to finish the year off with the end of term party at WOW which was a great success and things began to feel ‘normal’ 

Staff continued their training online, including 1[st] aid – it wasn’t easy trying to put a triangular bandage on yourself, in front of a computer screen, with the tutor looking on! And it felt very strange travelling out of Bideford, to meet 4 other strangers face to face for the practical part of the course, social distancing of course – all manikins came wrapped in plastic bags and looked more like a crime scene rather that 1[st] aid!  Again many of the professional meetings were done by teams and thanks must go to Pam and Holly as they attended all necessary meetings in order to support our children in the best way possible 

After 28 years Judith decided it was time to finish working at the pre-school and just focus on the Toddler Group, we are grateful for her commitment to the pre-school over the years.  Thankfully, we were able to celebrate her retirement at Brewers Fayre, as restrictions had been lifted enough to enable us to do this. 

In April we employed a new mealtime Assistant, Julia Rowe (she previously worked at the preschool as an EYP & Administrator) and then two new staff members were employed ready to start in September 2021, Debbie Daniel as a mealtime assistant and Louise Blight as an Early Years Practitioner. 

The staff have really had to think out of the box as to what we could do and how we could achieve it and I’d like to thank them for their continued dedication to the pre-school, through what has been a couple of extraordinary years! 

Finally on behalf of myself & staff, I’d like to thank the committee for their support over this last year and look forward to working with the new committee.
