**Objects:** TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN LOCAL HISTORY AND HISTORICAL ISSUES OF WIDER IMPORT

**Activities:** The Society organises an annual programme of lectures (October to April) on local history and archaeology as well as excursions for members during the summer to sites of historical interest.  The Society undertakes research and publishes historical books and periodicals.  Its archives contain a wider range of material (e.g., maps, letters, photographs, taped interviews).
