## **Stepping Stones Pre-School Treasurer’s Report Year ended 31 December 2023** 

In 2023, Stepping Stones Pre-School made a loss of £2,463 in contrast for the year ending 31 December 2022 when a profit of £10,238 was made. 

Its overall income for the year was £109,222 (inclusive of breakfast club income of £4,409 (£112,179 in 2021), whilst expenditure amounted to £111,686 (£101,941 in 2022). 

The pre-school received government funding of £52,888 (£60,480 for 2022) for children over the age of three years old. 

Fees from parents during the year brought in additional income of £49,620 (£44,216 in 2022). 

Total salary costs, (including staff overtime required) represents the pre-school’s largest expenditure and in 2023 amounted to £83,488 (£77,138 in 2022). Other related salary costs including national insurance, pension costs, training costs and staff wellbeing amounted to £15,084 (11,262 in 2022) 

The annual cost of rent amounted to £6,173 (£6,148 in 2022). 

Child activities and resource costs amounted to £3,472 (£4,020 in 2022) which can be broken down into consumables including the children’s daily snacks, drinks, cooking ingredients, food for celebrations, day trip costs, uniform costs, materials, equipment, toy purchases and arts & crafts supplies that need to be renewed regularly, such as paper, paint and craft materials, ink, sand and play-doh. 

Other significant expenditures were management and administration fees consisting of audit & accounting fees, DBS checks, insurance costs, IT costs, postage, printing, subscriptions and telephone & internet costs amounted to £3,469 (£3,374 in 2022).
