c) instigating and adhering to and furthering
the aims and objects of the Pre-school
LearningAlliance.

We have 31 children on roll, and we’ll be waving 19
preschoolers off to school this year as happy,
confident young people with big hopes for the
future, including aspiring doctors, engineers and
fairies!
We have seen a rise in the number of children with
SEND needs this year. This is a trend across the
country which we anticipate seeing grow over the
next year too. The team have worked hard to
ensure that they are supporting each child’s
individual needs and as a testament to their hard
work, these children are all thriving at Stickies.
Having revamped our long-term curriculum plan
during the summer, we have covered lots of topics
this year from self-regulation to caring for the wider
world. Children have enjoyed celebrating lots of
events including Remembrance Day, Burns Night,
Easter and the 80th anniversary of VE Day amongst
many others.

We have once again enjoyed having caterpillars in the setting. The children watched with great interest as the caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies and we let them go free. We also had another visit from Phelsuma Farm, who are always incredibly popular with the children as they bring in reptiles and unusual bugs for the children to hold. The children ask so many wonderful questions and it is a fantastic learning opportunity for us all. Our traditional annual celebrations remain popular, including our apple pressing in Autumn and our Christmas Singalong at St Mary’s Church. We also returned to Falmer Palmers for this year’s Summer trip. It was lovely to see so many families join us this year and so many happy faces at the end of the day. We have built closer links with Abbas and Templecombe Church School this year, improving transitions for the preschool children, and utilising the grounds for the whole preschool too. We have also continued our use of the Library Bus, which is always very popular with the children. Staff have continued to work tirelessly on their continual professional development throughout the year, undertaking various in-person and online training opportunities including SEND, EAL and behaviour management training. The team have all worked hard on their Dingley’s Promise training too, which we hope will see the setting achieve a Dingley’s Promise certification later this year. All this work goes a long way in supporting the needs of all the children in our care. Additionally, we have been working closely with other professionals and networking with colleagues from other settings to share best practice. Sticky Fingers have also secured a large funding grant this year which will be used to develop the Treehouse room, kindly gifted to the preschool from the Bath and Wells Academy Trust. This room will be transformed over the summer, becoming a purpose designed room for the 2-year-olds at the setting. With this comes a new parcel of outdoor land which we are excited to be developing into a new forest school and mud kitchen area, specifically designed to be safe for even the youngest of our children, whilst giving them the opportunities to really explore nature as freely as possible. We look to the future with great positivity that Sticky Fingers Preschool will continue to thrive, maintaining our high quality of care and education for the children of our community, being supported by local businesses and organisations, without whom we could not offer the level of provision we are currently offering.
