Fowey Preschool AGM Trustees Report

Welcome everyone to this years AGM.
Staffing
We said goodbye to Phil this year as due to the current financial situation at preschool we had to make the tricky decision to reduce staff hours. Unfortunately this meant that Phil had to make the decision to leave preschool in order to better support his family. We were very sorry to see him go.
Summer completed her training this year and is now qualified and we have another apprentice Charlie.
Fundraising and finances
The Easter Fair was very successful and made us a profit of £443.12. We thank everyone for their help and all the lovely raffle prizes etc.
The Christmas Fair was unfortunately not as much of a success as was hoped as we were extremely unlucky with the weather with freezing temperatures and ice putting people off. We were also unlucky with illness as most of our families fell ill with the Strep-A that was sweeping the county. Fingers crossed for next year.
Unfortunately finances are down again this year, although not as bad as last year. The school lottery has not had the supporters we hoped as people don’t seem to sign up to it but it managed to raise us £500 anyway so that is good. Amazon Smile has now stopped so that has been a blow and I think will hit us more next year.
The RagBag scheme has been better supported this year and hopefully that will continue.
Obviously with the news from the government that minimum wage will increase again in April by almost 10% following the 9% increase last year, but with no news of a funding increase to support it we are even more concerned about next years finances but we will have to watch and see.
Committee
Amy Fernie asked to step down from the committee this year and we thank her very much for all the service she has given to Fowey Preschool over the years.
