## **Annual Report Nov 30th 2022 to 29[th] Nov 2023**

Our Trustees have regularly attended the Pevensey Farmer’s Cluster, a meeting of local farmers concerned with the environment. Most of the meetings are held at Montague Farm and include a speaker with a PowerPoint presentation. Topics have included wildlife, soil, water and drainage, dungbeatles and the work of the Environment Agency. Tony has attended the Hailsham market on Fridays where he has acquired cheap tools and other assets for the charity’s farm work. On the 28[th] December Tony gave a Radio interview about the work of the charity.

We have been fortunate to have a talented electrician, Damien, to visit and help with heavy work and including electrical problems.

Tony continues to give talks to local groups, including the Herstmonceux WI about the Charity’s work. Similarly, Tony organised a presence at the annual promotion of local groups at the Pevensey Bay Information Day. On the 7[th] September Tony attended the Hailsham Chamber of Commerce meeting to say an account of the charity’s work.

We have received many donations of tack, saddles, rugs and stable equipment which our stalwart supporter, Emily, sells and brings the cash.

Martyn, our Trustee, is in pain with a knee and waiting for an operation. He is not able to do some of the tractor work so a young chap, Ptolemy, is helping out doing the hedge cutting. We are pleased to continue using our farrier, Sam, to do the shoeing and cutting as necessary. In April we had a schoolgirl, Olivia, about 8 years old, make cupcakes and dog treats to raise funds for our charity. Olivia visited with her mother and we helped out by producing a poster for her selling at the local village hall.

We dug a pond in the garden and were given a couple of ducks. Eventually Mr fox got wind of them and the chickens so eventually they had to go.

We continue to have several charity boxes in local venues including the Garage at Herstmonceux where there are two boxes. These and the box at Marley Lane Stores are usually well filled and Tony counts up the money and takes it to the bank. Our local HSBC banks are closed now so either it means a trip to Eastbourne or pay in to the post office. This latter procedure results in more paper work which is not helpful for the accountant. Dinty organised a stall at the Ashburnham country fair to include two ponies where we attempt to sell our donated bric-a-brac. The fire engine was nearby and they let children keep blowing the siren which made conversation selling difficult.

The rescue and advice provided by Dinty and other Trustees continues as before with animals coming in and a few being rehomed under contract. Paris, the last of the four donkeys rescued from Greece, sadly died.
