**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

The Aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The Method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

The 1st Chipping Sodbury Scout Group was formed in 1914 and has developed to become one of the largest and most successful in the district. With the assistance of parents and helpers we aim to provide Scouting for

- two Beaver colonies,

- • two Cub packs,

- two Scout troops

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

All sections are run by adult warranted leaders who voluntarily give up a great deal of their spare time and often their own finances. No leader or helper ever receives any form of payment other than the satisfaction of seeing the results of their endeavours.

**All trustees referenced in Section A are aware of their legal responsibilities/duty to ensure:**

- **They act in the best interest of the charity**

- **Dealing with conflict of interest**

- • **Manage the resources responsibly**

- **Ensuring appropriate control over resources**

- • **Act with reasonable care and skill**

   - **Getting advice and guidance on matter where appropriate eg when outside skill set**

## Section D Achievements and erformance p

The Group is strong with a waiting list for membership. **Summary of the main achievements of the charity** The 2020/2021 year was not quite the year we expected to be but we **during the year** still, thanks to the endeavours of the leaders, to deliver a form of engaging scouting via teams/zoom calls with some imaginative inventive practical interactive initiatives.

The land we purchased in 2017 came into its own during the milder weather enabling us to maintain, with suitable risk assessments, scouting face to face meaning our numbers held up. The further development of “stables” on the land, with solar power has meant we offered toileting and cleaning facilities.

Events and charity initiatives were curtailed, and subs were stopped/reduced for periods as the full scouting experience was not possible to deliver.

Nevertheless we still remain a string group and are confident a more engaging events programme can resume in 2021/2022.
