6. Chairman’s report — Tom Driver

Looking back, our club has had a very successful, record breaking year! | can't believe how quickly it's gone, but we've managed to packa lot in. So I'm just going to go over some of the highlights!:

We kicked off the year with Fireworks, which was safe to say the biggest and best we've ever had, with 1400 people in attendance, doubling the record set the year before. Everything that was in our control went pretty much perfectly, and the feedback from the public was amazing.

Following on was Christmas tree selling, which despite doing it in the middle of a storm and having to find a new location, we managed to sell 110 trees, just surpassing last years total. Soon after was the Xmas party, brilliantly organised by Hayley, I'll let her tell you more about that one!

Maldon Young Farmers Club Chairperson Vice Chairperson Secretary Treasurer Tom Driver Lucy Stammers Sian Dixon Nicola Gilbey

In the new year we brought back an event we haven't done for a while, collecting Christmas trees! Nice day, collecting about 50 trees, | think this is a good foot in the door if the club wants to make this a yearly occurrence, I'm sure it will get more and more popular!

Then we had the Quiz night, which again I'm sure Hayley will tell us more about, but | think everyone had a lovely evening

At the end of January we introduceda club skiing trip to Austria, which was a fantastic week and one we won't forget in a hurry! Amazingly there were no broken bones!

Next up was Prelims, which | think Grace's report will be talking about, but so many of us turned up and you all did so well that they had to change the rules afterwards to make it a fair fight for the other clubs! Which | think is bloody good going. The 12th April was our slightly different clay shoot which Sam will be reporting on, and the weekend after was a brand new event for us, the Tractor run! Fantastic turnout, 30 tractors and the burger van served about 300 people. There were crowds lining the roads, and | went on the radio to publicise it... not something | expected to be doing this year!

And then there was Show, the biggest day in our County's calendar! Maldon showed up in force, and quite rightly won club of the month that month for all our efforts. We had members helping out on the main gates, bar, stewarding, in subscribers and main car park, equine ring, vintage tractors, forestry and I'm sure there's more I'm missing, so it was a cracking effort all round, well done everyone.

One of the last things we did in the year was the Bike ride pub crawl, always a favourite of mine. Apart from my front wheel being stolen every time | left my bike unattended (Sam, George, Scott, Harry, Jack, thanks guys), it was a good fun day.

We've also done plenty of club clothing this year, the polos being as popular as ever. And then the most recent order of coats, softshell jackets and 1/4 zip jumpers, which thanks to the money from County, sponsors and the club chipping in a bit, we were able to give a free item to every member of the club. This amounted to 102 items being ordered from 75 different members. It's been great to see you wearing these items as often as you do! I've got the rest to be handed out in the boxes at the back, we'll do that at the end of the meeting and get some group pictures. Due to the generosity of the county committee we were able to subsidize the cost of 1 item for all members.

And | couldn't do this report without mentioning the size of the club, as I'm sure you've heard me say many times before, we've truly broken records with our

Maldon Young Farmers Club Chairperson Vice Chairperson Secretary Treasurer Tom Driver Lucy Stammers Sian Dixon Nicola Gilbey

numbers, becoming the biggest club in the County, and | believe one of the biggest in most Counties. I'll let Annie fill you in on the numbers!

There's plenty more | could say, but I've gone on long enough already. | just want to finish up by saying that every club chairman I've met will tell you that their own club is the best. But | can say with confidence that they're all wrong. You guys have proved time and time again this year that Maldon is the best club, and | hope you've all enjoyed this year as much as| have. | will miss being Chairman, and | just want to say well done and thank you very much to you all.

7. Treasurer’s Report — Nicola Gilbey

Charity - £6000 Current account - £17,723.14 Business Account - £3,247.98

Accounts have been sent out. We are just waiting for them to be finished and sent back. The biggest money raiser was fireworks - £5500 alone. Tree selling £950. Party just under £1000. £640 from tractor run. The clay shoot and calendar were good for subscribers although didn’t earn as much.

8. Activities — Hayley Chapman

This young farmers year we organised our annual Christmas party on 20th December in Matt Buntings barn. It was nativity themed which meant there was lots of creativity from the club with cardboard donkeys, sheep, a 3 legged camel and decorated Christmas trees. The generator, 2 tables and toilets were kindly donated by Heidi at Mobile Thrones and we had Ben Fitch DJ on the night. It was a great turn out with costumes ranging from a Mary and baby Jesus duo outfit to a blow up Christmas tree and camel.

On 17th January we held our subscribers quiz which we usually run at the start of December. This year we decided to have an event after the new year when there’s not as many events on, in the hope of a good turn out. We definitely exceeded the amount we thought were going to attend and ended up using as many tables and chairs we could find in Great Totham hall. We played heads or tails for the first round, with a donation to enter to win a hamper, with items kindly donated by the club. Then Tom and Lucy, our speakers, continued with the big fat quiz of the year with many themed questions about 2024. The winners received a large hamper of goodies including this years Maldon YF calendar.

A special thanks to the whole committee this year and Tom and Sian have done fantastic job! Cannot wait to see what happens in the next young farmers year. Hopefully lots of subscriber events.

9. Competitions — Grace Whiteford

Apologies for not being there in person this year. Last year we competed in many competitions and had a good number of people turning up to each one we attended. We took part in dodgeball, football, tug of war, lawn mower racing, public speaking and many more during prelims. We won prelims which is a very big achievement especially with the number of clubs coming forward. At the young farmers show we came second in both the girls and boys tug of war and also got a second in the lawnmower racing. Overall through the year we came in second through all the competitions. | hope you all have a lovely 25/26 year!

10. Show/ Rally — George Stinson

Evening all. This year's show we had 16,400 people though the gates so thanks again to everyone who helped make it happen. Tomorrow night is the show committee AGM meeting at the County building, please come along if you are interested in getting involved in show this year. Speaking of Show 2026, it is Sunday 17th of May.

11. Countryside — Sam Ager

Not a lot has happened in terms of countryside role over the past couple months. But we've had a very busy month in April

On the 12th of April we held our annual Clay but with a few changes after being let down last minute and not being able to find any suitable replacement despite many tedious phone calls , with a huge amount the help of Lauren we scaled it right back to more of a DIY one that was only open to Maldon members and subscribers it didn't go entirely to plan but hopefully everyone had good day

On 26th April we had the countryside day, that’s included all three activities at once those being stock judging that we unfortunately didn’t place in , farm evaluation we also failed to place and finally fence erection which we did actually win and went to the nationals so not a complete failure

Thank you Mr Chairman.

12. Press — Lucy Stammers

We've maintained good engagement across our socials over the last year, as well as an increase in followers, due to regular posts and creating reels! Our TikTok has also continued to grow over the last few months.

In the last 30 days alone, we’ve had 47,146 views on Instagram, which is great for brand awareness of the club and for new members to find us!

Maldon Young Farmers Club Chairperson Vice Chairperson Secretary Treasurer Tom Driver Lucy Stammers Sian Dixon Nicola Gilbey

Through our social media efforts, we have also been noticed by national on a couple of occasions and they’ve featured us on their feed highlighting our sign language lesson and farrier talk.

We have also had some very good reports about our social media and magazine entries this year!

Good luck to the next press rep for the upcoming year!

13. Programme — Megan Cock

Thank you Mr Chairman.

We've had a large array of different meets over the last year, from our annual pumpkin picking, which is always a popular meet, to a talk at the hunt kennels, a physiotherapy talk from our own Secretary Sian, ice skating with Dunmow and Halstead and even paddle boarding at the wonderful mersea boating lake to name just a few! It’s been brilliant to see a really good turnout to the meets throughout the year, whether it’s to a tour, talk or activity!

In between these, we’ve enjoyed some pub meets too, which is always great for catching up with each other!

Good luck to the new programmes rep for the upcoming year!

Thank you Mr Chairman.

14. Subscribers — Katie Goff

Thank you Mr chairman.

Will keep this short and sweet as this report will cross over into others reports this evening. As usual we have had valuable support at all our events, including fireworks, Christmas trees, and our annual quiz. It was also lovely to give back and see some subscriber faces at our clay shoot and social which was exclusive to them. Especially lovely to see some of them get involved with the tow on the day.

We have had a successful year all round and thank our subscribers for their ongoing support and | wish the next subscribers rep the best with the takeover.. hopefully will see some new subscribers on the list.. Mr Gilbey

15. New members — Annie Bradshaw

Maldon Young Farmers has grown massively this year with new members. The new members night at the start of the year was a huge success and many signed up and became regular members of our club. In total we have welcomed 37 new members

Maldon Young Farmers Club Chairperson Vice Chairperson Secretary Treasurer Tom Driver Lucy Stammers Sian Dixon Nicola Gilbey

this year and 209 members in total. It has been a pleasure being a new members ref this year, meeting new faces that have become assets to the club. If possible we ask that if you bring your friends to the meets could you please let the new members rep know!

16. Fundraising — Lucy Harrington

Last year we held a few fundraising events, we did some Maldon calendars that madea profit along with a £500 profit from the tractor run which was successful.

17.CSH Campaign — Harry Underwood

We used CSH bins for many of our events. We hope their support will continue as they prove very useful for us!

MALDON AND DISTRICT YOUNG FARMERS CLUB

Income and Exenditure Accounts for the year ended 31st August 2025

| have examined the bank accounts, books and relavent documents of the Maldon and District Young Farmers Club and from these have produced the final accounts.

In my opinion the accounts give a true and fair view of the state of affairs at the 31st August 2025 and the excess of expediture over income for the year then ended.
