Trustees Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2023

THIS YEAR

A separate report, detailing major Scouting activities and achievements, is associated.

Training costs have started to pick up, I expect them to increase again in the coming 12 months.

We have continued to hold a provision of £25,000.00 that we have committed to Hollinwood Scout Camp. This should be paid out in FY24.

We have continued to hold general funds against designated purpose and have held separate Scout Association Short Term Investment Service (STIS) accounts as an aid to identify these separately. Interest from these accounts is paid into our current account.

NEXT YEAR

The Scout Association have discontinued the STIS, the funds were returned to us on 12th May 2023. Funds are now sat in our Current Account.

There is a need to continually monitor District arrangements relating to buildings management within the District (closed/closing group HQs). Need to ensure trustees understand/accept their responsibilities and reduce unnecessary expenditure.

GENERAL COMMENT

The Trustees policy on Ellesmere Development reserves is to hold funds against future determined purpose.

The Trustees are obliged to retain the sum of £3,000 and the resultant interest on this capital as restricted funds.

The Trustees have not identified any major risks to which they believe the District is exposed.

The objects of the District are as detailed within the Association's Policy, Organisation and Rules.

The District is a trust established under its rules which are common to all Scout Districts.

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy, Organisation & Rules of The Scout Association.

The accounts have been drawn up on the receipts and payments basis in line with the Scout Association's rules as
