We did start to perform in public again from November at concerts & competitions. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our activities were severely curtailed until after September but the refurbishment of the building was able to be completed. We did manage to compete at the Scottish Open in Perth in November when we achieved a creditable 4[th] place. We also managed to start playing in public again and did a smaller than usual amount of carol playing over Christmas. We managed to replace a few instruments using some reserves and taking advantage of higher than normal part exchange prices. We also managed to bring the kitchen/café area up to a standard capable of hopefully allowing customers in. This is planned to commence in the 2022/2023 period. We have managed to recruit more volunteers from the local community to help us with his venture and have provided training for all in Health & Hygiene. We finished the year in March 2022 in spectacular style by winning 2[nd] place at the North of England Area Contest of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, thus qualifying to compete in the National Finals later in 2022 at The Royal Albert Hall in London. The first time the band has qualified since 1986.
