Financial review
Incoming resources:
Incoming resources were less than the previous year due to less children attending for less time, a reflection of the smaller number of 2-4 year old children in the area.
Resources expended:
Expended resources increased due to wages costs increasing in line with minimum wage and other costs increasing.
Net income:
Due to the reduction in children attending Playgroup and therefore less income and the increase in expenditure due to wage and other costs increasing significantly Playgroup have made a loss. We have invested in marketing and have reduced staff to try and manage this into the next financial year.
Statement of Trustees’ responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the report and the accounts in accordance with applicable charity and accounting practice.
In preparing the accounts, the trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP, make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent and prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
