Financial report of the Guide Hall April 2023 to March 2024
Our year started with the amount of £825.84. This was a low balance, however enough to carry the Hall’s month expenses for 3 Months.
A reminder was given to the units about submitting the Levy for their Hall use. This remains at £1 per unit member per night.
I was approached by the Aylesbury Town WI to do a talk about the Guide Hall which will be 100 years old in 2026. They gave us a donation of £410 for this talk.
We had discussed the need to obtain some grants to enable us to do some major work on the hall: The old garage with a damaged roof to be removed and make space for a 1 or 2 car park space for use during the day to get more use of the hall.
We also needed to renovate the toilets in the hall. These needing the walls being skimmed, painted and replacement toilets. We now have more modern slim fit toilets – the doors were replaced and now we have 2 suitably sized toilets as well as a separate toilet for the disabled. While this work was being completed a leak was discovered so a new basin and much smaller unit has been fitted again giving more space to move around.
The fence around the hall needed replacing giving a gate in the back lane for entry onto the premise.
The front of the hall needed a lot of work weeding so it is now: A path for main door and side paths for the 2 fire doors and where the majority where the weeds come from is now gravel and we have a front gate leading on the ramp to enter the hall for those with mobility scooters, walkers and wheelchairs.
I continued to do one off market stalls and unit market place sales raising £168.00.
Over the summer break we put a request into William Harding Trust Fund for some help. We gathered quotes and recommendations. We did get a grant of £22650.
The works were carried out between December 2023 and February 2024.
During the works we had to remove 2 trees; one was behind the garage discovered when they removed the building and the other that was preventing the new fence from being erected. This increased the price so more funding is being sort.
We ended the year with a positive balance of £271.40 and owed 2 bills one for £15 and one for £376.22 both being paid by personal bank transfer but not yet claimed.
