Section D Achievements and performance

Our September starting figures were lower than the previous year with 18 **Summary of the main** children on roll. **achievements of the charity** We’ve been able to remain open 5 full days which is fantastic. The AGM **during the year** was held in person on Monday 6th October 2025 where David Keenan was voted our chairperson. We were also lucky enough to gain a few new members to be on our committee. We are continuing to create an inclusive and engaging preschool and an enriching curriculum with the input of the staffing team, committee and the children focusing on embracing our place in the rural countryside. We are still aiming to incorporate a Curiosity Approach with Forest School elements and create a positive impact on our community and on our children. Nicola joined our staff team as a level 3 preschool assistant on 30.1.2025 and has been a fantastic key person and member of the team ever since! Then Chloe joined our team as an apprentice in February 2025. She is growing in confidence and ability and we are so glad to have both of these super ladies on our team! Being a team of 4 is a challenge and we are actively recruiting a 5th member to be bank/relief staff. We had some very successful fundraising events including the Christmas Festival, Christmas Jumper Week, ‘Bee Day’, PJ day and our Summer Fete etc. With the support of a parent who works at Barclays, we were able to double our Summer Fete fundraising amount, both for us and our friends at Fairhaven Primary School. Fundraising events are not only important for the preschool, but also a great way to engage with our families and provide fun, social opportunities and create a larger networking community. Fairhaven Garden visits continued to be popular with children participating in scavenger hunts, pond dipping, story-telling sessions, and nature crafts, among other things. Fairhaven Primary School offered 6 transition sessions for those children transferring to them, and we welcomed the reception teacher on several occasions as she came to preschool to spend time with the children here. The other primary school teachers made visits or arrangements to familiarise themselves with their transitioning children. We said goodbye to 11 children at the end of the school year after a lovely ‘Graduation’ - the majority moving over to Fairhaven Primary. We celebrated our leavers with families participating in a lovely graduation ceremony. Then a dance and snacks after. All the children participated in their leavers' graduation ceremony, complete with gowns and self-made mortar boards. Parents were very happy and thanked the staff for such a beautiful end to their preschool journey. Due to inadequate government funding, we needed to introduce a ‘Consumables fee’, which is a small fee to cover some of the following - snack and fruit costs, cooking activities, messy play resources, parties etc. This is now known as ‘chargeable extras’ We have ensured that this fee is voluntary for families in receipt of EYPP. This has prevented us running at a loss. Our parent feedback survey results are very positive and staff were praised throughout for being nurturing, kind and approachable.
