In absence ol a Ireasurer. the accounls are recorded in Sage Accounts and are being
M￿ntaIned within the administration role until a treasurer is appointed.

Once again this has been a challenging year financialty. Rising costs impacted the
overheads ol the playgroup and the commillee have had 10 conlinue lo be extremely
resourceful in Ihe financial running of the playgioup.
Employee wages and salaries were the highest overhead, Slaffi'ng cos15 were monitored
with regard 10 mainiaining safeguarding. ra1105 and a suitable learning and working
environmeni. In April 25, the National Living wage was observed by the commillee bul it was
agreed siaff paid an hourly rate that was above Ihe April 25 National Living wage would be
reviewed in 25126.
Rent was the next highes1 overhead and the committee is grateful to East Coker Parish
Council (landlord) for not increasing our fent in 24125. It musi be noted Ihal this overhead is
very likely lo increase in 25126.
Electricity was third highest overhead due to higher usage. The unit price and sianding
charge remained the same IhToughoul the year. Playgroup pays the landlord lor the
eleciricity used. Recommend looking at way5 10 reduce usage and cost.
Consumables overhead is part paid for Ihrough the oplional snack fee, the committee
agreed 10 increase this lo 30p per snack from Sept 25. The playgroup reclaims part of the
milk cost through the Nursery Milk scheme. The following strategies were Ljsed during Ihe
year and should continue, When making unavoidable purchases (hand lowels. disposable
gloves. hand wash. cleaning supplies) lo use discount code5. special offers, lo buy in bulk
and eliminaie delivery cosis. To minimize spending by using up fesources and finding new
ways 10 use up those resources that are hanging aboul. Asking parenis lo donate iiems io
recycle and reuse.
External factors that supported the playgroup in 202412025 include Somerset Council p￿d
an incremeni 10 all settings from an underspend they had in March 25 and an expansion
grant in August 25.
The Universal and Working Families hourly arnount increased in April 25. The majority of
children are lunded by Universal Funding, Working Families Funding or SomeTsei Council 2
year old funding.
Easi Coker Playgroup (eceived a significant donation from a local playgroup that closed 2
years ago and had lunds lo di511ibule lo settings operating under the Early Years Alliance
consbtulion in the area. A donalion was also received from a local business.
Iniernd factors made by the commillee have supported the playgroup in the following ways..
Agfeed the hourly lee rale lo increase from Autumn 25 from 2yr olds £6.50 10 £7.00 and 3yT
olds £6.20 10 £6.70.
Fundfaislng as much as possible, Ihis continues to be a very importani irscome source.

Telling families about Easyfundraising, supporters sign up and support Easi Coker Playgroup
and when they shop online, a donatson can be made 10 playgroup.
These combined factors have resulted in a profil of £9614.69. The playgroup will need to
continue to make informed financial decisions in the coming year.

AGM 2025
Good evening everyone. welcome lo the 2025 preschool AGM. I'd to start by saying
Ihank you lo the comrnittee team and Eve lor being here this evenirbg and for all your
hard work throughout the year.
Preschool has seen some staffing changes again thi5 year. A big welcome lo Cerys
who joined the learn in September on a Level 2 apprenticeship. and also to Evie our
work experience slud8nl who is continuing h8r volLJnleer placement with us. Sharon
has now taken up the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead. At Ihe end of the
summer tem), we had lo say a fond farewell lo Lorraine who ielired from hèr position
after over 20 years wilh us. I'd like lo Ihank Lorraine for her dedication lo the
preschool over this lim8 and also to everyone who was able lo attend her leaving
picnic and help provide towards her leaving harnper.
In September .24 we had 22 children enrolled al the Preschool, which increased to
27 by the end of the year. 11 of these were new starters. We are still seeing a good
intake of Iwo year olds starting.
The autumn tèm) was headed by a space exploration theme. The children made
rockets leaming about reusing and recycling items. Crafts were undertaken lo learn
about fireworks and make Christmas decoration5. The children were able to grow T
pumpkins in the veg garden, pickèd this term and enjoyed playing outside when it
snowed. Thank you lo East Coker Primary for kindly inviting the children lo watch
their Christmas show. Preschool held a festive songs and raffle morning for parents
to attend and enjoyed a Christmas party al the end ol the term. Thank you to the
Parish Council for the new path which was laid, the children enjoyed helping lo cleaf
and rearrange the garden to allow for this. Thank you to Ruth who attended for the
children's Chrislmas photography. Our annual Christmas craft fair raised £762.
Ihank you to everyone thal was able to support us.
In the spring the children leaml about dinosaurs creating anolher fabulous display for
the wall. Chinese new year saw the children learning cookery skills, making a stir fry.
They enjoyed penguin day and well as participating In the Garden Bird Count and
making 'bird cake, feeders. The children enjoyed a visit from Zoo Lab and leaming
about Bee's from a parent visit on national Bee day. The children enjoyed dressing
up for world book day and VE day when they had a street P8rty plcnic. Our Egg hunt
coff8e morning was well attended. thank you to everyone supporting this.
In the summer term preschool held a stall at the Hardlngion street fair which raised
£52. Thank you lo East Coker Prlmary for hosting our sports day thls year, il was
lovely to be able lo have more space for the children's races. The children enjoyed
external visits from the Police to dlscuss road safety. Zoo lab brought more cr8atures
along and th8 Fascinallng and Curious Museum visited with som8 int@resling oblocts
for the children lo explore. The children loved seeing some chicks from a parent visit

The Winning of the surnrner hcAidays saw the pavilion modemisation begln. We ar8
very grateful Ihat this has not interrupted the proceedings of preschool too much. We
look fofward to seeing the completion of Iha project 8nd the upgrades that it wll bring
to the preschool.
