Trustees report AGM 2024
Commodores Colour Guard
16° October 2024
A huge thank you to all the people who worked so hard and donated in kind to make our
50th Anniversary season a huge succe551
The trustees have asked me to appoint Beth Nutter Chartered Accountant to independently
examine our accounts, prepared by the treasurer. We had a busy year financially but are
happy that money was well spent and we have a new fundralslng group to help boost oiur
income.
The trustees were faced with an historical abuse claim, after thorou8h investigation by the
local authority and meetings with the Charity Commission it Wa5 found that Commodores
had robust safe8uardin8 in place then and now and acted properly at all times.
In line with WGUK Commodores introduced a soclal media and privary pollry to our existin8
policies. We have asked the Charity Commission to change our activity fomi Drum Corps to
Colour Guard and will act on this at the next trustee meeting.
We hosted a wonderful party seeing 5 decades of members, parents and staff comin8
together to celebrate the spirit of Commodores and the longevlty of our organisation,
We h05ted a very successful regional show in Warrington where all seats were sold out. We
had two units in competition with WGUKThÈ Commodore cadets and Commodores A Class.
The Cadet5 had their best score yet at finals With a fabulous show Peter Rabbit I Promise
You. this group had 4 new members who did an excellent job. A huge thanks to all the stsff
who made this a possibility.
A Class had a me8a production Cabaret Rouge which grew In strength at every competition,
our staff did tremendous WO￿ with relatively young and inexperienced members as well as
stretching our older members. We had an incredibly successful trlp to Ireland and won our
class competition therel
At the BrTtish Championship5 we knocked tt oirt of the ball park winning The A Class British
Championship with an all time highest score of 91.41 The icing on the cake was being
awarded the Fan network Fan Favourite a much<oveted award.
We supported WGUK Spintastic Event by doing the catering.
One of our A class members Emily Edmondson was offered a place to perform with DCI
World Class Drum Corps Blue Starsl With a huge fundraisin8 efftjrt Emily flew out to Blue
Stars a week later and what an Incredlble season she had.
What a wonderful year for Commodoresl Preparations for both groups to take part in the
next season are well underway with a SUC￿SSfUl summer of baslc trainin8.
