## **Chairman’s Report**

## **Islamic Society of Wales**

## Date: 31st January 2025

## **Introduction**

As Chairman of the Islamic Society of Wales, I am proud to present this year’s report. This year has been one of positive change, progress, and unity within our community, and we are excited about the future as we continue to work together towards our shared goals.

## **Strengthening Our Leadership & Enhancing Youth Engagement**

A key achievement this year has been the successful formation of a new leadership team, which includes both trustees and dedicated volunteers. Their energy, vision, and commitment to the values of the Islamic Society of Wales have already made a significant impact. With their help, we are poised to continue developing and growing our organisation in the years ahead. A major focus for us this year has been improving youth engagement within the community. We introduced a new Mulana whose approach has resonated with our younger members, fostering deeper connections and a stronger sense of belonging. His presence has already made a meaningful difference, and we are optimistic that this connection will continue to grow, ensuring that the youth are supported and involved in the life of the mosque.

## **Bringing Newport Mosques Together**

One of the most significant milestones this year has been the successful collaboration between the mosques in Newport. We worked together to unite the community for the Friday prayer, a historic step that reflected our shared commitment to unity and mutual respect. This cooperation has strengthened the bond between the mosques, and we are excited to continue this spirit of collaboration moving forward.

## **Community Outreach and Events & Future Goals**

Throughout the year, we have hosted several community events designed to engage with and support residents, while promoting Islamic values. The positive response from our members has been incredibly encouraging, and these events have provided valuable opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for the future. One of our primary goals is to purchase a new house to accommodate the Mulana. This will provide him with a permanent residence, enabling him to focus fully on his work with the youth and broader community. We believe that securing this housing will support our mission to strengthen our ties and further enhance the services we provide.

## **Conclusion**

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our trustees, volunteers, and community members for their unwavering support and dedication. This year’s achievements are a testament to the strength of our collective efforts. As we move into the next year, we are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing our work together to build a brighter future for the Islamic Society of Wales.
