RE: Rainbow Preschool Accounts 2022-2023

Further to recent correspondence please find attached complete accounts for the 2022/23 financial year.

As explained in previous emails we have struggled with parent participation and support regarding AGM’s and organising a committee. We have been doing everything in our power to find additional trustees to support the Preschool. Unfortunately, the person that dealt with the accounts left resulting in the accounts not being verified. During this time we have outsourced everything that may result in conflict of interest to ensure that the Preschool continues to run smoothly and correctly.

At the end of 2022 we were fortunate to recruit Mrs Sharon Vygus as a volunteer, she has been working tirelessly to ensure that the accounts are checked and verified, along with finding new people to join the committee and support Rainbow Preschool.

The Preschool has grown, and we now support many local families for children from 2 years to school age, opening a second building for our 2 year olds and those children that we feel need some additional support before going to school.

Our 2023/24 accounts are verified, and we are aiming to hold our 2023/24 AGM on 31[st] March 2025. We are hoping to recruit more trustees to support Mrs. Sharon Vygus who agreed to become a trustee at the beginning of 2025 at this time.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding on this matter.

Yours sincerely

Debbie Tippett Chairperson of Rainbow Preschool (1027312) dtippett1974@gmail.com 07764 999508

AGM Minutes

Date: Friday 10[th] February 2023

Present: Georgina Campbell-Hudson, Lyndatjie Ngero, Gabriela Diaconu, Lovejot Singh, Zoe Thompson, Helen Thompson, Jaydean Dawkins, Kevin Roffey, Caprice Hibberd, Linda Kazohuo, Kayley Griffin, Lee-Ann Hyett (Secretary), Sharon Vygus (Treasurer)

Claire Johnson (Chair) Debbie Tippett, Julie Roffey, Anne Roffey, Lisa Godfrey, Karen Pinnington, Clare Chesworth, Chloe Chesworth, Abigail Cairns, Kelsey Osborne, Georgia Smith, Rebecca Stevenson.

Thank you all for coming out on a Friday night, it is something we must do and as you can see from the minutes, we have not had an AGM since 2019. We are a charity and part of the Charity Commission rules state that you have to have an AGM every year. Because of lack of parent support (and Covid) our AGM hasn't gone ahead.

I can't stress enough how important the AGM is and how important it is for rainbow to have a committee, we are a charity run preschool, without the committee we cannot make decisions about wages etc. We have had to do things through proxy vote. We need a committee otherwise rainbow will not exist.

This AGM meeting is basically to update you, just to give you an idea of our financial accounts and give you a brief update about what's going on in Rainbow.

I would like to thank the parents for your continuous support throughout the year involving themselves and their children in our fundraising events. It allows us to do what we do, to provide the equipment that we must buy. All the

money raised goes back into rainbow. It allows us to buy new equipment and helped to fund the sensory area.

Thank you to all the staff at rainbow for their continued hard work throughout the year, particularly during COVID. They help ensure that your children have a happy and safe time at rainbow. Not only do they work hard while they are here, but also giving up their valuable home time organising events, cutting out, and attending meetings.

We would like to welcome our new apprentices, Kelsey, Rebecca and Georgia, good luck in your course and we will support you through your apprenticeships. Abigail and Chloe are nearly qualified now and are nearing the end of their course.

Chairperson/Manager report .

Firstly, thank you for our support the last few years, we manged to make it through Covid, and I am pleased to say, the parents were happy with the continuous support online and remotely.

We have also taken on the new Rising 2 building, this wasn’t easy, Julie, thank you, I couldn’t have done it without you. Together as a team, we got through it.

We hope you as parents like the changes that have been made. Our aim is that your children are safe, happy and ready for school by the time they leave us, that is our goal. We still want to get an Outstanding from Ofsted; this is what we are working towards.

The Rising 2 building finally opened in November and has been a huge success. We are nearly at capacity from September 2024. We would like to get a covered area for the garden, but this will cost a huge amount. Any fund-raising ideas would be welcome.

Treasurers Report.

The accounts have been reviewed by and Independent Examiner.

1[st] April 2022 to 1[st] February 2023

Total sales £177,414.22

Total outgoings £156,129.30

A loss of £24,574 due to our new building, garden and equipment.

This should be offset in time with the new children attending.

New Chairperson report

Thank you for coming this evening. I’m Claire, Mum of two. I got involved with Rainbow about three years ago when my eldest was here.

I love being involved and am excited about helping to grow Rising 2’s and fundraising for the canopy.

Another way you can help is by joining Easy Fundraisers. It pays a percentage of your shop to Rainbow. The shops include Argos and Just Eat.

We are currently updating our Rainbow Facebook page, which will be a private group for parents. Details should be available in the next few weeks.

Lastly, thank you to Debbie and all the staff for all the hard work and effort they put in to providing an amazing Preschool.

Next Committee Meeting

To be confirmed.
