STANWIX COMMUNITY PRE-SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31[ST] JULY 2025
We are pleased to present the annual report for Stanwix Community Preschool, a registered charity providing high-quality early years education and care for children aged 2.5 years – 4 years in the Carlisle area.
As one of the few early years provisions in the area, we continue to play a vital role in supporting local families and ensuring children have the best possible start in life. Despite ongoing financial challenges, this year has been one of growth, creativity and community spirit. We are incredibly proud of how our staff have worked together to maintain a warm, high-quality environment for our children. Highlights from this year include:

An increase in number of children on roll, with parent feedback continuing to be overwhelmingly positive.

Replacing a large section of wooden decking in the outdoor area with new composite decking.

Hosting our very first EYFS Graduation Ceremony, celebrating the achievements of our children as they prepared to move on to school. The event was a wonderful success, bringing together children, families and staff (past and present) to mark this special milestone in a joyful and memorable way. Our team worked hard to make the day special, from decorations and displays of children’s work to the refreshments and photo opportunities that followed. For many families, it was a celebration not just of their child’s achievements but also of the care, learning and friendships that have shaped their early years journey.

• Holding several successful fundraising events such as our spring raffle and selling personalised tote bags.

Continuing to meet all EYFS and safeguarding standards with positive feedback from parents and carers. We’ve also invested in professional development for our staff to ensure that our practice remains current and in line with EYFS guidance.
Looking ahead to next year, we aim to:

Secure funding for new outdoor equipment to enhance play and learning opportunities.

Continue developing staff training in safeguarding, Ofsted requirements and helping children with SEND.

Host a Christmas performance following the success of the graduation.

Explore new fundraising opportunities to maintain financial stability.
Together with our staff, committee and families, we have continued to build a strong, caring and resilient early years community!

Legal and Administrative Information
Stanwix Community Pre-School is a Charity, Registration Number 1027121, and a member of the Early Years Learning Alliance. It is also registered with Ofsted 317608.
Principle Address
Stanwix Community Pre-School, Church Street, Stanwix, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA3 9DJ.
Objectives of the Pre-School
To enhance the development and education of children (Primarily under statutory school age) by providing appropriate safe play facilities and good quality affordable childcare. Encouraging parents and the local community to be involved in the recognition of such needs in the local area and offering opportunities for ALL children whatever their race, culture, religion, means or ability.
Aims
To provide a stimulating, safe environment, equipment for all children and engage staff.
Raise money to pay for pre-school activities.
Make such payments as shall be necessary.
Fix and collect the fees in respect of the children attending the pre-school.
Principle Bankers
The Bank Accounts are held at HSBC City Office, English Street, Carlisle.
Trustees and Governance
There are 10 Trustees who are elected annually by parents. The Trustees follow our Constitution and are all DBS checked following OFSTED guidelines. The Trustees meet every 6/8 weeks and minutes of meetings are kept on file. The chair of this committee is Sarah Thompson.
Reserves Policy
The Pre-School has a reserves account purely to cover staff redundancies and any outstanding rent, utilities etc. The main source of funding is Nursery Grant funding from Cumberland Council and parental fees, with parents helping to raise funds for equipment.
Financial Position
The net profit for the financial year ending 31 July 2025 was £11,292.81 The fund balance as at 1 August 2024 was £86,352.28 and at the end of the financial year on 31 July 2025 the fund balance stood at £97,645.09.
