## **hSTANWIX COMMUNITY PRE-SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31[ST] JULY 2024** 

2023-2024 has seen us make a lot of changes to the indoor area. We are always looking at ways to create an exciting and stimulating environment for the children. It was the perfect opportunity to make the changes when the playroom was decorated in the summer holidays. We have changed the whole ‘feel’ of the room by going more natural in colours and resources. The children are really enjoying all the changes to the layout and the new storytelling chair. As we have made all these changes, we have suffered a loss in our finances. This is due to several factors, which includes a lower intake of children, a drop in funding, fees, cost of living, maintenance of the building, such as decorating the inside and replacing one area of decking outside. 

As we look towards the next year, we are excited to have more children who have enrolled with us, which will mean more available funding. This will allow us to further enhance  our  setting,  both  inside  and  out.  We  would  like  to  purchase  a  new interactive screen to deliver phonics and educational games to the children. We also continue to develop the outdoors and we have another area of decking we would like to replace. We hope to do more fundraising in the Spring/Summer with a sponsored walk and coffee morning, bringing all our parents/carers and children together. An exciting year ahead! 

## **Legal and Administrative Information** 

Stanwix Community Pre-School is a Charity, Registration Number 1027121, and a member of the Early Years Learning Alliance.  It is also registered with Ofsted 317608.

## **Objectives of the Pre-School** 

To enhance the development and education of children (Primarily under statutory school age) by providing appropriate safe play facilities and good quality affordable childcare.  Encouraging parents and the local community to be involved in the recognition of such needs in the local area and offering opportunities for ALL children whatever their race, culture, religion, means or ability. 

## **Aims** 

To provide a stimulating, safe environment, equipment for all children and engage staff. 

Raise money to pay for pre-school activities. Make such payments as shall be necessary. 

Fix and collect the fees in respect of the children attending the pre-school. 



## **Principle Bankers**

## **Trustees and Governance** 

There are 10 Trustees who are elected annually by parents.  The Trustees follow our Constitution and are all DBS checked following OFSTED guidelines.  The Trustees meet every 6/8 weeks and minutes of meetings are kept on file.  The chair of this committee is Sarah Thompson. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

The Pre-School has a reserves account purely to cover staff redundancies and any outstanding rent, utilities etc.  The main source of funding is Nursery Grant funding from Cumberland Council and parental fees, with parents helping to raise funds for equipment. 

## **Financial Position** 

The net deficit for the financial year ending 31 July 2024 was **£8,370.17** . The fund balance as at 1 August 2023 was **£94,722.45** and at the end of the financial year on 31 July 2024 the fund balance stood at **£86,352.28.**
