independent froTn the National Federation. Two Surrey Federation officer5 attend the National Federation Council

The Federation ha5 about 150 member Wls. This year we have been able to forrn I new Wls but there have ￿en S￿er31
dosures. There are approyirnately 6.7(Qmembers in the Surrey Fedwatiw. a 51ighity lower number than last year.
Some Surrey Wl member5 have taken advaniaEe of the opportunitie5 to participate in activities and in events throughout

The Federation is a registered charity and a Company limited by guaTrntee, not having share capital. Every member
undertakes to conrribute an amount not exceeding £1 to the a5set5 of the Iharity in the event of the charity bein8 wound

The Federation was fom)ed in 1918 to independently a5515t The Nati￿31 F&kialK)n of Women's Institutes of Engl3nd,

any Women's Institute IWII throughout the cwnty of Surrev.
The Federation was Incorporated on 15 ju￿ 1993 and t*camea registered charity on 8 ckiober 1993.

We participated in the reV￿lon of the Constitution of W15 set by the thanges approved ai the National Annual General
Meeting on 4-6-25. The Companies Aci MÈÈting was ￿ld prK)r to the National AGM.
Surrey Federation held the Adoption Meeting of the new ConstitutK)n ￿ 7-7-25. This was necessary because Surrev
Federation, like many Charities, IS a Coffjpany titnited by Guarantee and thÈrefore must comply with the Companies Act
formalities. We sent information to all cwr Wls inwting them io either send a delegate or grant a Proxy vote prior to this
meeting.
The new Constitution was duly ￿lOpted.
We have used the Strategic Plan for SurTey Federation to develop organisation inio one that encouragos our tnembers
to enrich their INOS by inspinne ihem to take an active role in their communry. loarn newski115 and widen their horiions.
The newly lorrned Skills Actwities and Learning Team {k￿wn as SALTI has enhanced this objeclNe by running 3 WKle
variety of courses. They have started to t)uild a relationship wih an ￿ganisatIon which distributes [￿d to Fwd Banks and
olfers courses to reach cooking &kills. Through this team we have en8a8ed wilh a National￿ 5UPPOrted "Lei's Dan￿
initiative, to encourage fitness. with our member5 and potential members.
Our Membership Supp(rt Team. (kno￿ as MSTI have been actNety Icokin8 at the gro%vth areas in Surrey. to See if there is
potential to open new Wls. In 2024125 2 Wl has been opened.
Sadly. due to falling numbers. frailty ol aEe and an inabilbty to retain and ￿CrUit committee member5. there have been
sever31 suspÈnsions.
However, we notice that Wls have extended their hand of friendship •)d offered enlargement to mutLJal beneh't of both
the exisrine Wl and the suspended Wl.
The Re501ution and Campa￿nS Tearn IknowD a5 RACTI have ￿ed sirategic Plan to measure their inueasing
involvement with informin8 our memitrs of new Campaigns, how io craft a new resolution as well as taking on a greater
involvement in developing an undersiandingol the role of a Delegate to our Wls.
This team has also provided members 10 5crutineer ihe long list ol proposed RÈsolutH)ns.
said farewèll to our Surrey Wl News editor as she wishes to enjoy a new lifestyle. We wekotned a new Ediitsr, who
comes from a background of jotjrnalism and is now able to bring fresh idea5 to th15 tnagazine.
She leads an enthusiastic teatn of proofreade15 underihe euidance of one of our newor Trustees.
We continue to deliver 5urrey Wl News. to all our members who have an email account, on the 1st of the rnonth. We also
print copies for our members. who like to hold a magazine but L3ck a printef. We ch3rge for the paper. ink and postage.
Thi5 has reduced from to around 300copies a morTrth.
We have also employed a new member of staff - the Digital Administraior. This fo￿ encompasses the r(Ae of Webrn3ster,
10 improve our sooal modia presence. help our Wls under5taniJ the 365. we use.

Unfortunately, this was not as sftwih a5 the rnrmal ZcK)m call. The ￿chnOl(£V hal 3 'gremlin' day, and members could
not get in as usual. We learnt a lol.
Our Trustee'5 have all completed iheii Trustee Training as well as other Trainine courses offered by Nat￿nal Federation,
such as. Conflirt Resolution, Safeguarding and the newAdviser5 Qwrse.
We, continue to inwte our member5 to observe and contribute to the Trustee Team and the cornrrittee rn￿ting,
this we hope will enable them to understand how thÈ Federation 15 run. and Maybe volunteerto serve.
Our numbÈr olTru5tee'5 15 apprO￿late, but succesgon planning isajways (M) C￿r minds, with the need to replenish.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team ￿ takin8 k)n8er to become effettive. but due to the dedKation of founder
members we have greai hopes.
We took our ga2ebo to the Pride @ Surrey event held ai Stoke Park in Gvildlord. ThKs event was very successful, manv
rnembers came to share their mernorie5 of their family's invdvemenl with Wl. and how can they join? A carnival like
festival.
However. WE report success 'Erowing' our aimate Ambassador's Team. They have participated in Marches, k>bbyinR your
MP ai Westminster. as well as nK>nitoring the cleanliness of our streams and rweTS. We have had window displays in
shopping areas to inform the gerneral public about wrclimateconcerns. pfastic Iree picnics etc.
Cranleieh Show. saw us show casing the variety of skills one can leam ihrough meml)ership of the Wl. whilst intrDdu￿n£
children to decorating plant pois anil then Pla￿tIng a Small plant. This 3rea ￿orn$ to be a growth area, and we had many
enquiries about Wls in the area.
Edenbridge & Oxted Show, saw us again showing Ihe range of skills we have FK*w when entered in a Show we can be
so Competitive. The foot fall wa5 sleadyalbwng us to engage wth many peo￿e.
The Iloth Anniversary of NatK)nal Federal￿n of Wls was celebraied fy Parading Banners in Guildford. We ako had a
stsll to showcase the History of the varh)us Wls In 5urrey.
We had 3 5elf.funded holiday itb eri5tol for a larger group of wr rrEtnber5 who responded to staying in StudÈnt Halls
during the balloon Festival so pDsitwely. E(KKI team buildin& this may be repeaieil next year.
The Irarnework of the StrèteEiC has pro%￿j to be invaluable in guiding our Trustees and Chairs of ComrTNttee5 to

had a tasty lunch at Glenmore House. followed by a) engaginE talk byauthor Karen Swan.

photography and tamaraderie. all organised by a dedicated team member.
None Of these attiwtie5 would happen without commitment. time. and hard work of the SALT team, whose efforts aro
greatly valued.

The MST 15 responsible for the welfare and devek)pfflent of the Wls in the Swrey Federat￿n. SFWI has fwe Wl Advisers,
trained by NFWI who are reappointeil annualty by Federation. and retently retired A￿l$erS and other Wl members
who give valued support. The team has nine members in total. 2 Wls were suspended th￿ year due mainly to bein8 unable
to find comtnittee members. However. 2 W15 have been lorrned during this period. MST mernbers are also attached to
Groups within the Federation They have been ¥tively invdved in 18 Group tommiiiee mÈÈtings, meetings and social
events, in person or wrtual. They have also attÈnded 7 Prison Wl meetings
Mernbers of the team have foll￿tiVelY made 67 visils tow15 tooffer 5UPPDrt, the and
encouragement and pre-lortnation meetings. They have *tended 21 Annual Meefings at the request of the Wls, to offer

We have also spread awareness of the resolution process, wovking with the Membership team to run two workshops on
Resolutions which again proved p)pular. After the narional Annual Meetin& we worked with other Surrey te8ms to
spread Information about the new Canw)awF"Bystanders cao be Lifesavers" and the impwnce of learning about CPR.
The team works closely bwth our Climate Adv(K*e and Resolutions ctrordinawr and have boked at ways to reduce our
climato footprint. iDcludin8 hdding some tr￿etIngS by ziN)rn. We have been pleased to wekomÈ Wl members to our rn05t
recent zoom meeting and a￿ hopeful that we have gained team tnernbersas a result.
We are looking forward to a new year of campa%ning and encouraging others to lake part.
Equalfty, Dfver50ty and Inclusion Tearn (EDI}
Surrey Federaiion have continued to mnitor acrTriiieg everrt5 Put on by and within the Fedeotion to ensure that
where possible, we have events throughout the yearthat will cater lor all of our rnetnber5 if they wish to attend.
This has included varying the time and venue forworkthops aiming fora varietyof price ranges.
We ran crafting workshops, open to all members. to creaie 'gwe away. thing5 at Pride in Surrey. This created 3 safe space
for productive cOnversat￿nS to take place to aid our overall inclusNe approath io the LGBTQIA+ cornmunity. We
undertook a thorough risk assessment prior to cNJr attendance at Pride in Surrey and had a gocMI time supporting this local
event.
We began to create a 'Black Lives M3tterf banner lor the Federat￿n and reached out to varKJUS grwps ¥￿thin ihe black
community for advice and feedb3ck. It vras SUEeQStÉ4Y that tt was not aulhentic and needed to be created by members
who identify within that community so the project 15 on hold. and we will l(KJk for mernbers to help with this.
The E & O Show 2025
The Show theme was A Year in the ￿fe of...
Entries were 4ain slow io arrive as in 2024 for th￿ show on the August
Bank Holiday weekend at ihe Edenbridge & Oxled ABricultvral Show. However with a lot of reminding and arrn twisting
of members the large marquee we were allocated was filled with a rnar¥ell￿5 array of top qualiry crafts and cookery and
hand5 on dÈmonsirationsand activities.
The weather for the set up days werè dry and warm. The 2 5hLw days were hot and it was a full i*rne lob keepin8 all the
voluntetr stewards and helpers hydraled as the iernperature in the marquee soared and everyone's energy levels
plummeted. Some members of the public just found it tixj hot to spend Eitne viewing our show. The yummy brovmies for
sal¢ on the Country Market cakt stall quKklytumed into drinking chocolatell
Six judge5 spent 5 hours each judging all Ihe exhibits - what a task. They were overwhelmed with the skills, talent5
attention to dotail achieved by all the exhibrtor5.
We were delighted to wekome St John Ambulance io us to promote the W campaign that 'Bystanders can be Life

training to rhe National Food Standards Agency -Let'5 C(M)k" course5. All the physKal items that were purchased
with"Let's Cook money were also passed ￿ Foodw5e TLC Ltd in the year.
The Restrirted Fr￿NdShIp Fund kn1ds c105ing funds Irom Suspend￿ &Jrrèy Ws. ThÈse funds are available for
return to the Wl should it rÈform. After three years the FurKts are transferred to the Designated Friendship Fund.
Cranleigh show is the balance ol funds raised Irom past invofvÈmÈnt with the annual show. The lund5 are held for
use by the committee at shows.Thi5 year we had an tnvolvement in the show as it is rÈcotnmÈnied after Covid 19.
Surrey Serenaders 15 a Self funding eroup. Members r¢y to attend fortnightly prartice sessK)n5 and the group
r8ises funds by hostinEconcerts. Fund5 are used to pay foru)sts invdved sn pra<tice sessions and concert5.
Crafty Ladies is a self fundine Eroup. Funds are raised by asking attendees to pay a fee for each session they attend
and the eroup use the fund5 to payfor tuiorwhen sufficient funds a￿ held.
The Camera Group can ask members for a I￿ wF¥ch 15 then used to pay for speakers and extess funds are held for
their use.

Joyce 8eryl Morgan left a £lO.CKtI le8w to Denman Coll40 for ￿mL￿S from Surrey. Lancashire and Hampshire
to tover fee5 and/or travelling in expenses of siudent attendin8 courses al Denman College to be known as the Joy
Morgan Bursary. Due to the closure ol Denman CollÈge the Executors havÈ agreed to the bursary being used for a
wider range of cour5e5_ The terrns 3greed are "Courses. that, in spirit ol Denrnan and the friendship5 made
there, allows Wl members io learn new 5kn115 or explore rEw topics as a gtoup. This bursary can be used to cover
course or tutor fees and travelling expenses"
Denman Bursary is funds thai were (bnaied io Federation Special￿ to ￿Ver members attending courses at
Denman Ccllege. The college closed in 2020 and NFWI have used the proceeds fr(￿n the sale of the building to Set
up Ihe Denman Trusi_ The Federation are Slill awaiti￿ confirmation from NFWI as to e¥attly what we are allowed
to Use the funds lor.
GEneral Bursar￿5 are funds that have been donated to the Fellerat￿Tr to fof education purp05e5, not limited
to Denman courses.
Edenbridge and Oxted show is the fund to enable the prornotion of the Wl at the agricultural show. The
committee raises nx)ney by hosting qU12zÈs and Irom competition entr￿$ to pay for tho stand ar cth show and
prizes for cotnpetitions.
Designated funds
Thi5 Friendship Fund hold5 gifts from rnembers. Wls and the remaining rese￿eS from Suspended W15 and it is
available to help rhe formation ol new Wls by paying for some of their start up c(tsts and to help financially
struggling Wls. The fund is also used to prornte thÈ Wl at hxal shows and at any other event the Trustee Team
feel will attr￿￿ new interest and membership.
The Training Fund was set up usin8 a to enable the Federation to pay lor the training of new TrusteÈs,
sub-team members, including Adyiws and Wl committees. This is rthf funded by an annual transfer from the
unrestricted lund5.
The Promotion Fund The Board of trustees have W￿ened the use of the desienated friendship fund this year to
allow for a wder range of cost to be paid from it, so all Wl promotion is p3id from the Iriendship fund. The
balance brought forward on the pron)olion fvnd ha5 been trnnsfeI￿d b&k tothe unrestricted reserve.
General BurSar￿S are funds thar have been donated to the Federation io use for any purpose. The trustee5 have
put the money aside to enable bursaries to ￿ given lor a wide range of courses and not restrict bursarios to Wl or
Denman trust Organ￿ed cour5e5.
Transfers between funds
DurinE the year E9,993 was transferred frotn ihe Restiicted Friendship Fund to the Desi8nated Friendship Fund.
These are closing funds Irom suspended Wl's wh￿h have not reformed withirt thrÈe years. In accordance with the
Friendship Fund's pdiry the funds are transfÈrr*d to d?￿gnated funds al this point.
The other transfer5 were rnainty rnoviDg fund5 between unrestricted funds that had been designated by the
Trustees for various purposÈs and Eeneral funds. A total of E51X) was also transferred from the Designated
Friendship Fund to the Edenbridge and Oxted Show Restricted Fund.
