Playgroup
started the new school year on the 5'" September
with over 20 children.
Two new members
ofstaff started as our manager
reduced
her hours and another staff member
left. Sparrows agreed to
provid the children
with a selection offruit again at snack time along with|| ||||biscuits.
The children
worked on seasonal crafts and enjoyed both|| ||||indoor and outdoor learning.|| ||||The children
made Christmas
cards and gifts for the residents ofa|| ||||nearby pensioner's
housing
complex.
They were given to the Warden|| ||||when the children
performed
an outdoor Christmas
song concert for|| ||||them.
Sparrows entered a Christmas tree at the annual
Christmas
Tree|| ||||Festival with a theme ofSanta's
Little Helpers.
They won first prize in|| ||||their category.
The children's
Christmas
Party was held on the last|| ||||Thursday
session and all the children were invited.
Entertainment
was|| ||||provided
by Timmy the Elf, Father Christmas
visited a with a present for|| ||||each child (provided
by Sparrows).|| ||||Level 3 DSL safeguarding
training was completed
by one member ofstaff|| ||||in December with a further 3members
ofstaff completing
their Level 2|by| ||||February
half term.|| ||||Sparrows started back on Monday
O'" January,
with all COVID|| ||||restrictions
lifted. Parents were once again able to bring their children
into|| ||||the hall instead of being met at the garden gate and a one way system|| ||||was put into place to make pickup time easier for everyone.|| ||||A different craft was covered each week including
the Chinese
New Year,|| ||||the Gruffalo,
Going on a Bear Hunt and Valentines.|| ||||Different professions
were covered after Half Term together
with World|| ||||Book Day and Mother's
Day. Easter related crafts were created over the|| ||||last 2weeks ofthe Spring Term and an Easter Egg Hunt was held on the|| ||||last Thursday
Session.|| ||||The summer
term started
with 40 children.|| ||||They explored
different colours ofthe rainbow and learned
how rainbows|| ||||are created.|| ||||The children
experienced
a variety ofdifferent genres ofmusic and|| ||||explored
how music could be made with the instruments
and leading
up|| ||||the King's coronation
the children
made crowns, carriages and bunting|to| ||||celebrate.|| ||||The children
met and talked to local Police Officers and learnt about the|| ||||RLNI, which plays a very important
part in Island
life. There was|| ||||opportunities
to role play the Emergency
Services including
hospitals
and|| ||||the fire service.
Within this theme we looked at our bodies and how to|| ||||keep healthy
and strong.|| ||||A photographer
came for photo day and we then covered the topic All|| ||||about Me. We celebrated
Father's
Day and
there was plenty ofoutdoor|| ||||play and a trip to a beach hut.|| ||||Sports Day was successfully
