Summary of the maln
achievements of tho charity
during the year
Playgroup started school year in September. Due to the on going
Coronavirus Govemment guidance was followed and all safety
measures were in pla￿. All staff were back expect for one who was
dinically vulnerable and needed to shield. The children spent as much
time as the weather would allow outside which they enjoyed. Christmas
presents were purchased from fund raising that was Garried out in
August 2020. A Christmas paty was held on the last Thursday
aftemoon session with each child recer¥ing a present from Mr and Mrs
Christmas and entertainment by Timmy the Elf whith was enjoyed by
all.
Staff V￿re supplied with new polo shirts and jackets in October which
makes them easily recognizable to the children and their parents. All
staff Paediatric First Aid Certfficates ￿re also renewed in October
following a iwo day course run by a local lady.
Due to another lockdown being reintroduced from January we W￿re
down to 3 staff members . As the schools were off the playgroup did
not have so many chiklren retum. Weather permitting children were
outside but when in the hall the Frenth doors were left open lo circulate
tresh air and staff wore masks. Unfortunately the staff member
was shielding passed away at the end of January vthich was very sad
for the chihlren. Children do did crafts for Valentines Day, Mothers Day
and Easter. A staff members daughter kindly came in to help end of
March making a tyjg house with the children outside which proved very
popular and drfferent. She also hid 100 foiled covered Easter Eggs in
the garden for the children to hunt for and place them in the Easter
baskets they had decorated.
Luckily the playgroup had all staff back for the summer temi starting
after the Easter holidays. Al safety measure5 were kept in place so
nty of hand washing and deaning of equipment every session. More
children come to the sessions and were very happy to be back. Only
craft work under taken was for Fathers Day. Due to the on going
restr1￿10nS the ￿aYgrOuP was unable to tske the children on any
outtngs. We did manage to hold a Leavers Paty during the last
Thursday aftemoon session where 17 children enjoyed Fish and Chips
kindly donated by Mersea Island Fish Bar. Children received a story
book and party book.
