Cambrensis Annual report for Charity Commission 2024-25
The Cambrensis choir had a very successful year. Concerts were given in Llantrisant, Bridgend and Rhiwbina in the early summer, followed in July by a social event which was well attended.
A lot of work went into preparing for a Christmas concert, which was due to be held in the Hoddinott Hall in the Millennium Centre early in December, but ‘Storm Darragh’ caused major disruption, and the decision was made to cancel the concert. Ticket monies were refunded to those who requested it, but a large number of people asked that their payment be made instead to the charity ‘Rainbow of Hope’, who were to be the beneficiaries of a collection at the concert. We managed to perform most of the music we had learnt at a concert in Caerphilly the following week.
It was unfortunate that our Musical Director, Glenda Pasley had to resign in December 2024 for personal reasons, having led the choir for some 18 months. We were pleased that Kelvin Thomas, who has had a long association with Cambrensis, agreed to step into the role in January 2025. He was supported by Jonathan Davies and Graeme Hunter as Associate Directors.
The Trustees met twice in the new calendar year. Among other items discussed a report was agreed clarifying the extent of delegation of decision making by trustees.
We gave two concerts in Cardiff before the end of the financial year.
