STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMEKr
The Scout Assoc¥ation exÉsts by authoiity of a Royal Charter granted by King George V in 1912 and
supplemented by fvrther Charters, granted by King George Vl and Queen Elizabeth 11. These
Charters give autharty to th6 Byè Lavts of the Scout AssocÉatÉon, which are approved by Fris
Majesty's Privy Council. The Bye Laws, in tum, authorise ts making of Nles for the regulation of
the Scout Association's affairs, and therby give authority for the Rijlés printed in "Policy,
Organisation and Rules..
Central Nottinghamshlre District Scout Council is tFke second tier in the Adminsstration of SGOUting.
Groups, District, County and National Organisation.
The District Scout Council exisls to promote and support scouting at all levels. squ[￿e1 Scouts ,
Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and ExplO￿r Scouts within Central Notts District. It provides
District Trustee Board ffhe Trustees) to manage its affairs in dealing with District property, financial
matters and the appointment of senior adult leaders for each section.
The Tnjstees of the Central Nottinghamshire Distiict Scout are appointed in accordance with °Policy.
Organisation and Rules. at Annual General Meeting by the District Scout Council, other than ex-
officio and co-opted appointments.,
Followfng the Annual General Meeting new TTL￿teeS are irKlucted. The induction covers the role of
the Trustees and their responsibilities, together with an oveTview of the DistrKt and Kthat is exp8Ct8d
of them over the Goming year.
OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY
Central Nottinghamshire District ScoLrt Council is a Charity established within the structure of The
Scout Association to provide leadership, advice and support for Scout Groups vithin the District.
MAIN ACTMTIES UNDERTAKEN FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT
The District leases and operates the Sherbrooke Camp Site. which comprises a Gamp ￿ntre. indoor
sleeping accommodation. activity areas and training facilities. The carnpsite, whilst biased heavily
towards scouting, is availablé for hire by other cornmunity groups and attracts carnpers from other
Dlstricfs and Counties within the UK and also from overseas. The ScoLrt Council lays heavy
emphasls on leader training and rnaintains a fund to support attendan￿ at overseas jamborees and
foreign visits. Reports from the various sections a￿ contained in the DistrFct Annual Report, copies
of which a￿ available on request.
Financlal support and encouragernent in the form of 'seed' money is also made available to promote
the growth and maintenance of scouting in the DistricL

Over the year, we have also welcomed six new sections to the District and two further sections have
re-opened following the pandemic. which is fantastic news and showing that Scouting in Central
Nctts Is thrfving.
As we started the year, we welcomed over 600 Scouts bad( to the streets of Southwell for our annual
St George's Day Parade, Whe￿ we was also joined by over 100 Guides from neighbouriny Dtvisions.
Our 3 Squirrel Drey Opened at 1 Woodborough and we was very exctted that 1 Abel Wcod
became the 18 Scout Group in our District when they opened a Beaver colony, Cub pack & Scout
troop all at the same time.
May saw the return of our second District camp at Shertjrooke, where the young people took part in
various internats'onal activities in referen￿ to the Worfd Sojut Jamboree later in the year. June
played host to the first County Squirrel Day that tts)k place at Sherbrooke and saw two of our Drey's
join other Squirrels from all over Nottinghamshire for a full day of fun activities
As most sections broke up for summer. five Explorers from Central Notts were getting ready to join
up with the other 35 members from Nottingharnshire ScoLrts to head out to South Korea for the 25
Vvorld Scout Jamboree. The Jamboree did not quite go as everyone expect￿ but they all still had a
On￿ in a lifetime experience of a worldwide international Scouting evenL
Following the summer holidays and as the new Scouttng teryn begun again, trND sections re-opened
following the pandemic - the Scout section at 1 Burton JOY￿ and the second Bea¥er cclony at V
Arnold. Throughout the latter months of 2023, the Cubs & Scouts tcok part in their annual
Cyclocross & Night events, the District Squirrel Drey held their first sleepover and the Beaver5
visited the ctnema & the Cubs had a party for their Christmas events.
As we entered the new cakndar year (2024), we welcomed our 4 Squirrel Drey and 9 Explorer Unit
when 1 Redhill Squirrels and Wiking ESU both opened. The 8eavers also had a trip to Eureka, the
Cubs rambled around Burton JOY￿ and the annual Swimming Gala took Pla￿ for Cubs, Scouts &
Explorers. March brought along BeACub day and the open day for aur 5 Squirrel Drey at 3
Woodthorpe which is due to start after East

Firstly, Scouting in Central Notts would not be Vh￿ it is without all the hard work and dedication of all
Ihe fantastic leaders & supporter5, who enable ￿r 1.150+ young people to experien￿ excitlng
weekly programmes. fantastic adventures. leam new skills and make long-lasttng friendships. So
thank you to each & every one of you for what you have done over the last year (& for lots of you
marly more too) to support SGOUting in the District
Also extra congratulations go to all the leai&qrs & supporters who received good service & k)ng
service awards over the course of the last year too. We were lud(y 8nough to be able to recognise
and present 3 good ser4ic8 awards. 49 long services awards and 18 wood badges to adufts all
across the District.
Annual census
At the time of the 2024 census relum (taken on 31 January 2024) the Distiict recorded a total of
1,164 young people which represents a 7.60A increase in the overall youth membership from the
previou8 year. The tsble below show5 the breakdcwn of young people per section. along with the
same for the last 4 years, for comparison..

DISTRICT CHAIRS REPORT
Over the past year, we have witnessed some remarkable events within our district and
tnessed some great achievements. all of which you w.11 see in the rest of this report.
We have had an excellent district trustee board team in the past year. and I would like to
thank each of thern for their support. comrnitment, and inpLrt into supporting the district. My
thanks also extend to Daniel for another year of supporting the district treasurers, role and
ensuring that the district accounts are in excellefrt condition.
As we reflect on the last year. l am excited to see the passion remains in the adult leaders,
and other volunteers: to deltver the skills and life experien￿ thal scoub'ng provides to
young people. I thank all of you for your part in an ex￿lIent year and making our district
something we should all be woud off.

Total unrestrFCted receipts for the year were £103,798 and total unrestricted payments amounted to
£173,399 as shown on page 7 resujtrng in net payThents of £69.601. Our bank and cash balancès as
at 31 st March 2024 amounted to £148,427.

No remuneration nor expenses were paid to trustees.
RESERVES POLICY
The Trustees regularly keep under review the level of reserves. The Trustees consider the level of
unrestriGted funds of £148,427 to be sufficient for the ongoing operation of the Distrid.
Induded wthin general funds of £148,427 are designated funds of £138.68g

I report to the Trustses on my examination of the accounts of Charity (Ihe Trust.) for the year
ended 31st March 2024 on pages 7 to 11.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the Charty's Trustees of the Trust you ate responsÉble for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance Kqth the requirernents of the Charities AGt 2011 (the AGt).
l ￿port in respect of my examination of the Trusys accx)unts carried out under section 145 of the 2011
Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed a]1 the applicable directions given by the
Chaiity Commission under section 145{5)(b) of the Act.

connection with the exarninatron giving me cause to believe that in any Material respeGt:.
