## **Annual report**

The year to 31[st] January 2024 saw the Hall bookings at the highest level since the pandemic at £4,246 but below the pre-pandemic income levels of £7,283 in 2019/20 due to changes in the way people meet and the lack of new groups using the hall.

We saw an increase in bookings for parties and other social events with great positive feedback.

During the year we received £71,500 from a legacy from Richard Hartley a Brookland resident. He was a great supporter of the village and the village hall and his legacy will enable us not only some financial resilience but the ability to improve the washroom facilities which are badly in need of repair. We thank him and his family for the support given.

This money had been put on an interest bearing deposit with the bank which raised £324.83 in interest income in the year.

The hall is a valuable community asset in a rural area with the hall used for clubs, activities, celebrations and sport and leisure activities all of which are slowly coming back into use.

## **Financial Report.**

Income for the year £4,570.83 Legacy £71,500.00 Expenses for the year £4,675.15

## **Cash surplus for the year £71,395.68**

Expenses included £852 for a Village Hall sign.

Cash reserves stand at £91,808.15 as at 31[st] January 2024.

The intention is to use some of this money to refurbish and update the washroom facilities so that they comply with current regulations. The balance of the money will be used to secure the hall’s future in uncertain times ahead and to ensure that the hall is a valuable local resource.
