MUSCLIFF COMMUNITY PRE SCHOOL

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 9 JUNE 2025

CHAIRPERSON REPORT

Firstly, A bit of background information about the Preschool:

We originally opened in 1990 as a ‘Playschool’ and we only recently changed its name to note it’s status as a Pre School and reflect the level and standard of education that is included through play, for our children. Our Ofsted rating from Good to Outstanding in April 2024 bears this out.

We are a Registered Charity, answerable to the Charity Commission, and Ofsted, and are run by a Volunteer Committee of Trustees. These Trustees are comprised of a mixture of parents, former parents, grandparents and friends of the Preschool. As Trustees our main function is to support, in the background, the amazing work that Phoebe and her team do, largely by arranging our fundraising events. |

it has to be said that it is getting increasingly difficult to get sponsors for our Charity, so we are very grateful to everyone who supports us- from local business, to the parents, and to the brilliant staff, Committee members, and Friends of the Preschool. Without your help we couldn’t exist, so thank you everyone. ;

We do currently have a shortfall in our numbers on the Committee, particularly parent members, so if anyone would like to join us, please come and have a chat. Your time, however much or little you can spare, would be greatly appreciated.

| originally joined as three of my grandchildren had previously attended the Preschool, and | have to say they all have such great memories of their time here. | was often on drop off or pick up duty!

As a Committee, our fundraising events are paramount. They area lot of fun, and are a real Community event!

The last year has been extremely busy, and in common with most small businesses and Charities, we we have had to battle various increases in our expenditure.

Treasurers Speech AGM 2024/2025

Please find a copy of the accounts for the financial Year 6" April 2024 to 5" April 2025 enclosed. All figures have been checked and verified by an independent qualified accountant, who has agreed to do this free of charge and will be shown going forward as a donation of £100, we are extremely grateful to MLW Accountantsfor this kind gesture. As of April 2025 the balance of our current account was £14911.49 and the deposit account was £28099.64.

This year has seen wages increase again and as you are aware this has added to the financial pressure we’ve been feeling. The committee has agreed the new wage increase but is very aware we need the extra income from the new Tuesday PM session to be a success. Along side this we have spent on advertising and aim to continue to reduce our outgoings where possible, without impacting on our children’s education and wellbeing.

Everyone has pulled together this year to improve our financial situation. Most of our outgoings have been reduced and income has increased, putting us in a strong position going forward.

We aim to streamline our payroll system as well as our invoicing system this year , which we believe will also help our funds.

| genuinely believe putting all of the above in place will contribute to our continued success at the pre-school. 3

Thank you to everyone for a great team effort, and to Bev for her support.

| will as always update you on any changes going forward.

Debbie Coombes, Bookkeeper.

AGM 09/07/2025

Hi everyone, l’m Gemma, |’m really pleased to introduce myself as the new chair, I’ll be taking over from Bev who has done an incredible job and | want to start by thanking her for everything she has done throughout her time as chair and also to apologise for not being with you all today.

The playgroup has beena part of my life since | was a child and after 15 years of working in the charity sector | know how much places like this matter to the children, the families and the community too. | also understand how challenging it can be to keep things running smoothly as a charity in today’s world.

What | hope to bring as the chair is a mix of real-world experience and fresh energy, | am keen to bring new ideas to support the amazing work that Phebe and the team are already doing here and most of all, | want to ensure we keep building something special for the children. A place where they can feel safe, engaged and inspired.

Clearly everyone has worked so hard to make the playgroup the brilliant place that it is, | hope to be a useful addition and can’t wait to get started. Hopefully together we will be able to keep providing the children with a safe and engaging environment.for years to come. ' ,

Please feel free to get in touch if you have anything you would like to discuss and I’tl look forward to meeting you all soon. ;

Gemma
