The playgroup is open on Monday to Thursday from 9am to 3pm and on Friday from 9am to 12.30pm – This equates to 9 session options plus 5 lunch clubs. Parents/carers have flexible options so they can choose sessions to fit with their other commitments ie work, care for their other children and wider family commitments. Most sessions are funded through the government funding for pre-school children, but extended sessions are offered at a below market rate to support families. The playgroup has very many families on low income or benefits. Many children within the area are on pupil premium due to their low-income status. The playgroup has been a true community resource since it’s construction in 1984 following a campaign and fundraising by local families. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** March **2012** **TAR** 2 You **may choose** to include The playgroup has always been an opportunity for local young further statements, where people offering volunteering and work experience for students of relevant, about: our local schools and colleges. - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. The playgroup also has two weekly volunteers who themselves have learning difficulties which offers them experiences in helping others and being part of their community. This can also offer respite to their families/carers. ## Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** The trustees of the playgroup are very proud of their dedicated staff team who have successfully brought the charity through the pandemic and out the other side against enormous challenges including: - Social distancing very small children. - Being infected themselves on numerous occasions and with that the need to keep ratios in line with Ofsted regulations for opening. - Keeping the playrooms and equipment scrupulously clean - Supporting families through what was an extremely difficult time including putting their children into the group but not coming in themselves. The playgroup this year has as usual invested income into resources to enhance the education and care of the children we care for. The senior staff team have also worked hard on training etc. to cover all aspects of current Ofsted standards in preparation for an imminent and overdue inspection. We have also invested in a teacher of yoga for small children to support physical education weekly with our setting. ## **Section E Financial review** March **2012** **TAR** 3 **Brief statement of the** Now we are back to normal we are planning internal and **charity’s policy on** external improvements to the buildings and outside area it **reserves** occupies [the gardens]. All work that would have bought on site any tradesman/planners was put on hold throughout the Covid years and we have now budgeted to do all work needed throughout the year 2022-23. We have the funds available to make this investment due to low spending throughout those previous years but will hold at least 9 months of costs in reserve as per are normal policy. **Details of any funds materially in deficit** None ## **Further financial review details (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include The playgroup is funded by Herts county council under the additional information, governments funding for pre-school children. We are a small but dedicated team working hard in our community to support others.
