## Chair Report 2025 Thank you all for attending our 2025 AGM. It is great to have parents and carers who are interested in joining our committee here at Three Bears As always it has been a busy 12 months for the playgroup. This report will cover September 2024 - July 2025. There were no staffing changes this year which is testament to the positive work environment at Three Bears that there is a very low staff turnover. Maintenance wise the fences were painted and new turf was laid in the garden. This gave the setting a really fresh feel and I know the children have enjoyed being able to play outside without getting really muddy. The garden was officially opened last September by Margaret who founded the setting nearly 60 years ago. We have had discussions in committee meetings for a long time now about refreshing the setting internally by painting the walls. Volunteer involvement would be be necessary which can be difficult to get, but hopefully that is something that can be completed in the near future. In terms of fundraising events we held the bunny hop at Easter which was a big success as always. We have also had cake sales and Christmas raffles and of course our annual summer fair which we lucked out again for with the weather. It was a great afternoon that brought the whole Three Bears committee together. There have been a number of enrichment opportunities for the children of Three Bears such as occupational visits from parents talking about their job roles and also to talk about Diwali and Eid which is so important to expose children to different cultures and religions that they may not get to experience at home. Three Bears currently has a very good number of children attending sessions with some sessions now at full capacity. We are getting lots of enquiries for new children as well as parents wanting to increase their children’s hours. Therefore Three Bears is in a very good position for the foreseeable future and there is a noticeable positive feeling within the setting. The committee is a very important part of Three Bears and the present committee members are myself as chair, Sophie as secretary and Lauren as treasurer as well as other parents and Carly, Kerri, Jane and Michelle as staff. The parents on the committee have all had or currently have children who attend Three Bears. Being on the committee has given us the opportunity to see how the playgroup is run, develop a good relationship with the staff and to have an impact on our children’s early year’s education. The committee ensures that we are fulfilling expectations whilst meeting our legal and educational obligations, however, the dedicated staff team led by Carly take care of the day-to-day childcare and learning journeys to ensure all children meet the EYFS criteria. Thank you to all of the current committee members for their contributions to Three Bears over the last year, for attending our half termly meetings and for helping out at events such as the summer fair. Your help and ideas are always very much needed and appreciated. And finally to all of the staff at Three Bears for their continued hard work dedication and for always ensuring that our children receive an excellent early years provision. This year I personally saw for the second time how well the staff at Three Bears prepare the children for their transition to primary school not just academically, but more importantly socially and emotionally as my own daughter went up to Cedarwood herself after two very happy years here at the setting. I look forward to another successful year ahead for Three Bears which will include preparations for the 60th anniversary celebrations in September 2026.
