village in a rural location in Cornwall for
children from the age of 2.5 years to
statutory school age. The children have
access to a broad and balanced range of
daily activities, both indoors and outdoors.
There are structured activities within the day
as well as considerable opportunities for the
children to select their own activities from a
carefully planned and range on offer. The
preschool provides high quality,
individualised child care aiming to meet the
standards set by Ofsted and within statutory
guidelines for the Early Years Foundation
Stage. The pre-school has very close links
with the village primary school, being sited in
its grounds, as well as excellent links with|

have another strong year in terms of
numbers and financial income, despite the
continuing challenges posed by Covid 19.
As in the period 2019/2020, Pre-school
remained open throughout the pandemic to
serve our local community. The staff were
particularly passionate about this. This
commitment has enabled our key worker
families to continue to work in their vital
fields. Pre-school has ensured that all
children within the setting have continued to
receive excellent levels of care within the
provision, whilst working with the Covid 19
guidelines. The children have benefited from
creative, open- ended resources with high
amounts of outdoor learning, to include time
in the village primary school’s forest school
area.
The preschool was rated as ‘good’ by
OFSTED at their inspection in July 2021.
There were numerous positives in the report
with quality of education rated ‘good’,
behaviour and attitudes ‘outstanding’ and
personal development ‘good’.
The charity has continued to undertake
numerous fundraising activities throughout
the financial year including an Easter Trail,
Summer Fete, Halloween Disco and
Christmas Fayre. Funds have also been
raised through Your School Lottery. Your
School Lottery has raised significant funds
and it is hoped this will continue on a rolling
basis. The charity hopes to put on a
community summer gala day to raise further
funds for the pre-school in the new financial
year.|

## Independent Examiner’s Report for The Trustees of Pensilva Pre-School
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 August 2021, which are attached.
## Respective Responsibilities of trustees and examiner:
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to
- -examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
- follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charities Commission
- under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act: and
- -state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charities Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair view “ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## Independent Examiner’s Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: a. To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act: and b. To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
Have not been met; or
2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
