Seer Green Pre-School Trustees Annual Report Charity Number 1026054
Year Ending 31/08/25
Introduction
The Trustees of Seer Green Pre-School are pleased to present the annual report for the year ending 31/08/25. This report provides an overview of our achievements, financial position, and future plans, reflecting our commitment to providing high-quality early years education for the children in our community.
Please note that we converted the charity to a CIO structure which went through on 4th October 2024, so there was no activity after this date under the charity 1026054, and the new charity number 1207892 was active from 4th October 2024 onwards.
Overview of Seer Green Pre-School
Seer Green Pre-School has been dedicated to fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 2.5 to 5. Our primary goal is to promote holistic development through play-based learning, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential.
Achievements
1. Curriculum Development :
-
We have successfully implemented a new play-based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on creativity, critical thinking, and social skills.
-
Regular training sessions were conducted for staff to enhance their skills and understanding of child development.
2. Community Engagement :
-
We organized community events, fostering a sense of belonging and partnership between parents, staff, and the wider community. This included the Fairy Tale Fete and Seer Green Comedy Night.
-
We successfully converted our charity type to a CIO in October 2024, meaning that members of the wider community are now able to volunteer to be on our Board of Trustees.
3. Facilities and Resources :
- We acquired new educational resources, including books and learning materials, to enrich the children's learning experiences.
4. Staff Development :
- Ongoing professional development was prioritised, with staff attending various workshops and training programs to stay updated with the latest educational practices.
Financial Overview
Despite making a small loss this year, the financial position of Seer Green Pre-School remains stable. The key highlights include:
-
Income : Total income for the year was £183,826, primarily generated from parental fees, fundraising activities and local authority funding.
-
Expenditure : Total expenditure was £185,306, primarily on staff costs, rent and food expenses.
-
Reserves : Our reserves are currently £50,000, providing a solid foundation to cover costs should the Pre-School fold. With fewer children signing up for the Pre-School year on year due to our operating hours, some of the reserves will help us to cover our operating costs, should the need arise.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, the Trustees are committed to:
-
Expanding our outreach efforts to ensure all families in the community are aware of our services.
-
Continuing to enhance our curriculum to meet the evolving needs of our children.
-
Implementing a sustainability plan to ensure our financial stability in the years to come. Whilst we have successfully implemented extended hours between Tuesday - Thursday to meet the needs of working parents, there is still demand for longer childcare hours, which is something we need to consider if we are able to provide.
Acknowledgments
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff, parents, and volunteers for their dedication and support throughout the year. Your involvement is crucial to our success, and we look forward to continuing our journey together.
Conclusion
The Trustees of Seer Green Pre-School are proud of the progress made this year and remain committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for our children. We are excited about the future and the opportunities it holds for our community, despite challenges arising from increasing costs.
