CORE report 2024/2025

It has been another busy year for the Trustees, volunteer helpers and customers at the CORE. Where to start???

The near completion of the VESPA project [solar panels, batteries, LED replacement lights and EV chargers to the outside of the building]has resulted in very impressive savings to our energy bills, and will continue to do this for many years to come .It is a very positive step towards the ongoing viability of the CORE which without this intervention would have been in some doubt. Sincere thanks for their sterling efforts on the project to Lua Leggett and Keith Worsfold.

Maintenance of the building continues to be an essential and fairly time- consuming affair. Thanks to the CORE Maintenance Group [ Alison, Graham Keith and Louise]and others Sarah/Stuart and Darryl . Apologies to anyone I have missed .A great job has been done dealing with heating, lighting, plumbing ,drainage and other problems around the building

Thanks to the many clubs and societies who make good use of the facilities provided by the CORE. They are the very basis and reason for the existence of the Community Centre.

The CORE continues to be used by increasing numbers of individuals and organisations for meetings parties, weddings, wakes and other functions .Thanks to Alison our Bookings Clerk for her work on this. Also to Tina for work online and elsewhere on publicity for the CORE.

The bar continues to be well patronised and is now a well established and integral part of many of the functions at the CORE .Many thanks Keith, Graham, Alison, Darryl, Sarah ,Sheila, Sam and anyone else who has helped out there.

The Trustees continue to run Bingo and Quiz nights. These are both well attended and help significantly to increased overall footfall . Many thanks to Charles White for his effort and enthusiasm whilst being the Main Man on these events.

We have recently introduced our Thursday Community Cafe run by Tina Battleday. This is actually what it says on the tin ,in that it is a place to meet ,chat ,reflect, eat cakes and biscuits and drink tea/coffee on a Thursday afternoon. It is well worth a visit!!!

The Trustees have organised a New Year Event ,Cocktail Evening and a Tipple Night. These events were well attended and enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to the Trustees, Sarah/Stuart Noy and all others involved.

A special mention for a future event The Wacky Races to be held on 13[rd] September 2025.An event not to be missed. Matters relating to this event are in the capable hands of Tegan Noy .Tegan is currently looking for sponsors and funding!!!!

Two Trustees have stepped down this year Lua Leggett and Charles White. Both have made very significant contributions to the working of the CORE during lengthy periods as Trustees. Their presence will be missed.

We currently have two new Trustees; David Stewart and Joe Goldie David is our new Financial Officer doing Lua's old job.

We are well served by our Trustees and volunteers but could always do with some new faces. On a slightly different but related matter. The Bell public house has now reopened under new management. We wish them good luck in their new venture and a warm welcome to the community.

In conclusion a busy and successful year with a very positive outlook for the future. Big thanks to the Trustees ,volunteers and helpers, Louise for her work as our cleaner and eyes and ears for the Maintenance Group and Maggie Smith our Secretary for all she does to facilitate the working of the CORE.
