Flnanclal revlew
These financlal 8lat8m8nts cover the year ended 30 September 2024. The slatements covering the 2023 festival
were for the 14-month period to 30 September 2023, owing lo 8 change in a¢¢ounting dale from 31 July lo 30
September. Therefore, Ihe ￿ported figures for overheads are not comparable between these two sels of financial
statements.
The Statement of Financial Activilies shows a surplus of unreslricled general funds for th8 year of £16,597. Thls
positlve r95uIt has been achleved nolwlthstanding a prov151on for tha underspend of th8 grant receivable from Arts
Coundl England Compared with the arnounl received In 2023.
The f8StIv81 compdses tlcketed events and others provld8d wlthoul charge, Including another full outreach
programme In schools and ¢are homes. For the first time, this programme included an extremely successful visil lo
a prison wllh festlval staff and selected perforrnars. These oulreach events are not cha￿ded for and rèly on funding
from grants and local sponsors.
Regardlng tlcketed events, ther8 were 8,296 tlckets sold, representlng 87.￿ of the maximum avallable. Revenue
from the tickeled events amounted to £120,515, represenllng £19.14 In revenue per tickel sold. This Compares wilh
£98,000, 84% and £16.80 respecllvely for the 2023 festlval,
Ourlng tho fe8tlv81'8 financial year, the staff, events management team and volunteers have all worked at capacily
level8 to provlde tha full 2024 programme.
The fe8tlval programme Is determlned well In advance of Its delivery In May and June each year. The costs of
deliverlng tha programme can be budgeted wlth a r8asonable degr88 of accuracy. However. the 18V81 of Income
from ticket 88les, membership subscriptions, grants and sponsorship cannot be gu8ranleed. Furtherniore,
expendlture on the f8stlV81 tends to be Incurred in advance of Income belng generated. Accordingly. the trustees
need to m81ntaln an adequate level of cash In re8erve lo meet the peaks in fundlng requiremonls. Under histoflc
operatlng condltlons, the festSval has sought to hold cash tsserves at 31 July each year of al least £70,000 lo cover
the autumn and winter months durlng whlch no funds are generated.
Fundlng from Arts Councll England for the 202S has not yel been secured. However, the balance sheet al 30
