monitored using the online leaming joumal Tapestry and feed5 into future planning. The staff are well trained
and this is upthed throughout the year and are therefore able to successfully meet the nee(ts of the children in
their care.
The staff endeavour to provide a stimulating environment inside and outside and provide inforniation to SFYC,

Aebievements and performanee
The charity has continued to benefit the local communiry by supporting pre-sch(Kkl ¢hildr¢n and have seen the
children in their care develop increased confidence and social skills whi¢h have equipped them for later life. The
charity has also provided much needed support io families of th¢ children in their care and in particular io
parents and carers of children with learnirtg difficulties and other developmental issues.
The Pre-school always bears in mind any particular issues or diffkcult1¢5 whi¢h the children in their care may
suffer and through a system of encouragement and support they have endeavoured to help the children reach
their full poieniial which will carry through io their futttre lives.
The preschool welcomes all preschool children in the local COTnTnunity regardless of personal background, f2ith,
gender or personal circumstsnces and we believe this philosophy of openness to all enriches everyone through
the integration and sharing of skill& apiitudes and experienees.
It was a busy year at West fotton Squi￿els preschool and another group of children have left to continue their
learning journey at school. Th¢ staff have helped them on their way by planning lois of learning activities and
experiences.
Squirrels hopes to build on the achievement of the pasi year to develop new systems and aciiviiies and to
provide continued training for its stsff and volunteers
Fin#n¢i*l review
The main source of funds i5 government funding from Hatnpshir¢ County Council supplemented by fees
harged to parents and a small amount g¢nernted from fund raising activitie5.
The overall income for the year was broadly the same as for ihe prior year bui a significant increase in staff
costs re¢tsueed the nel income of the Pre-school compared to ihe prior year. N¢vertheless the charity's finances
continue to b¢ Sound with more than adequate reserves to meet current and foreseeable expenditure in the
medium ￿￿
PDliry on reserves
The Pre-whool considers that it should have minimum reserve5 of £IOO,000 to cover in¢reased cosis or
redundan¢i¢5 Wlth a further atnouni to cover between 6 and 12 months of running costs, repla¢ernent of
equipment. exceptional items and emergencie5. It Considers that the ac¢umulated funds set out in the financial
statements are more than adequate to cover ihese amounts
