Fund raising and service activities in Flintshire. Assisting local charities, groups and individuals: support of Lions Clubs International via its United Kingdom Head Office: main outreach is to the local community.

It is hereby declared that the Trustees have had regard during the year under review to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit: the actual activities, following such advice, are listed within Section D

SECTION D: Achievements and Performance

In summary, during a year continuing to be adversely affected by Covid-19, the Charity’s main achievements are:

  1. Continuing the club's defibrillator campaign. Another three were purchased and placed in strategic positions within the area.

  2. Reintroduction of Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign: paying for 250 home test kits

  3. Provision of hampers to deserving families at Christmas.

  4. Provision of "bottles" and "wallets" in the Message in a Bottle and Message in a Wallet campaigns.

  5. Support of local groups providing facilities for handicapped persons/children and for old-aged pensioners.

  6. Support continued to be given to local groups set up to respond in various ways to the covid-19 pandemic: the ethos of the support was to provide funds at an early stage to assist in the setting up of what have proved to be highly successful projects.

  7. Commencing a campaign to develop stronger relationships with local schools including sharing proceeds of Easter Egg Raffles at selected schools and discussions with Head Teachers about how funds made available via a bequest could be expended for the benefit of pupils..

SECTION E: Financial Review

Policy on Reserves:

Whilst funds remain readily available for general charitable use, reserves are held in[u] sub-accounts" for future use to fund Prostate Cancer Awareness campaigns, purchase further defibrillators, progress the Club's "message in a bottle" campaign, the purchase of spare parts for the various defibrillators for which the club is responsible.

Another fund is held for the use in local emergencies such as floods.

There are no funds in deficit.

Further details. In the year under review, the Charity has benefitted from a donation from the estate of the late Mr Peter Winston Jones (£50,000). These monies were donated for specific projects and the Trustees have ensured the funds will expended accordingly.

SECTION F: Other optional information

Post-Covid fund raising proves to be challenging but reserves available enable the club to continue. Subaccounts for designated purposes remain in place with adequate reserves.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Flint and District Lions Club (the Trust) for the year ended 30[th ] June 2023

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act'). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
