It is hereby declared that the Trustees have had regard during the year under review to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit: the actual activities, following such advice, are listed within Section D
SECTION D: Achievements and Performance
In summary, during a year adversely affected by Covid-19, the Charity’s main achievements are:
-
Continuing the club's defibrillator campaign. Another two were purchased and placed in strategic positions within the area.
-
Provision of hampers to deserving families at Christmas.
-
Provision of "bottles" and "wallets" in the Message in a Bottle and Message in a Wallet campaigns.
-
Support of local groups providing facilities for handicapped persons/children and for old-aged pensioners.
-
Support continued to be given to local groups set up to respond in various ways to the covid-19 pandemic: the ethos of the support was to provide funds at an early stage to assist in the setting up of what have proved to be highly successful projects.
SECTION E: Financial Review
Policy on Reserves:
Whilst funds remain readily available for general charitable use, reserves are held in[u] sub-accounts" for future use to fund Prostate Cancer Awareness Clinics, purchase further defibrillators, progress the Club's "message in a bottle" campaign. A new sub-account has been set up to meet the costs of spare parts for the various defibrillators for which the club is responsible.
Another fund is held for the use in local emergencies such as floods.
There are no funds in deficit.
Further details. In the year under review, the Charity has benefitted from another donation from the estate of the late Mrs Dorothy Hall (£25,000). These monies were donated for specific projects and the Trustees have ensured the funds have been expended accordingly or have been reserved for future payments to fulfil these projects.
SECTION F: Other optional information
The onset of the pandemic means that fund-raising has been on hold since March 2020. Various calls have been made on club general funds and others are anticipated: inevitably, these are related to the effects of the pandemic. As to how long the club can meet such requests will depend on how soon fund raising can safely and effectively resume. Some minor fundraising ventures are taking place as we attempt to find new avenues. It is also hoped that an expected final donation from the estate of Mrs Dorothy Hall may become available for general fund usage.
SECTION G: Declaration
The Trustees declare that they have approved the trustees' report above.
