Rotary Club of Sleaford Charity Trust Annual Report for year ending 30 June 2022

The Charity Trust has been quite active during 2021/22. It has supported many projects and events, both in the local community and other parts of the world.

The Trustees of the Charity in 2021/22 were David Leech (Chair), Alan Thomas, Elizabeth Venn and Paula Ireland. All income and expenditure have been monitored and approved by the Trustees.

The biggest project in the year was the collection of Funds for the refugees from Ukraine who had to flee from their homes due to the invasion by Russia. A joint effort between the 2 Rotary Clubs in Sleaford managed to raise £24,000 from the public which was an incredible achievement. This money was sent through Rotary International to Rotary Clubs in countries bordering Ukraine who accommodated the refugees.

The other large international project the Rotary Club supported was the construction of the Little Faces School in Mombasa, Kenya with a donation of £4,000. A donation of 3600 was also made to ShelterBox in respect of the Haiti disaster. The Club supported the End Polio Now Campaign with a donation of £1,100 and also made a donation of £1,750 to Rotary’s only charity, Foundation.

Closer to home, the Rotary Club made donations to the Air Ambulance (£1,122), New Life Food Bank (£500), Kids Out trip to Twin Lakes (£865) and sponsored a candidate to the Calvert Trust Outward Bound Centre.

The Charity Trust bank account balance at the start of the year was £5,857. During the year, the account received £38,802 and spent £37,862, leaving a balance of £6,797 at 30 June 2022. The Accounts were independently examined by Wright Vigor of Sleaford

Looking forward, the Trustees feel that the Rotary Club should concentrate on supporting local causes and events whilst also contributing to natural disasters occurring throughout the world.
