The aims and objectives of the Fellowship are the advancement of religion through the pursuance of New Testament Christianity in carrying out the "Great Commission" given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples to preach the Gospel to every creature, and to provide spiritual and practical support for people in need.
The charity is funded by the free-will tithes, gifts and offerings donated by those attending the fellowship. The majority of these donations are made under the HMRC “Gift Aid” Scheme and last year the amount donated under the “Gift Aid” scheme amounted to £21837. The ability of the Fellowship to carry out its aims and objectives is greatly facilitated by the fact that all those involved in the work of the charity render their services in an unpaid capacity.
The Emmaus Christian Fellowship facilitates the assembling together of believers for praise and worship. The Fellowship meets for praise, worship and communion at 10-30 am each Lord’s Day, partt of the service is devoted to the young people present and an activity is provided for them. A Bible and Prayer Fellowship is held between 7-30 and 9-30 pm every Thursday evening.
The Fellowship continues to reach out to the local community in a variety of ways seeking to show love and compassion to those in need. To this end, the Youth Fellowship for young people of Secondary School age meets on Fridays from 7-15 until 9-00pm.
.The Fellowship operates a Child Protection Policy under the umbrella of the CCPAS and all who are involved in the various Children/Youth activities are CRB checked at regular intervals as are the trustees of the Fellowship.
The Emmaus Christian Fellowship remains fully committed to Christian missionary enterprise, and during the last twelve months a total of £6561was given to various missions and ministries. The total given to missions since the formation of Emmaus Christian Fellowship, Chorley now stands at around £500,000. This year, the Fellowship also donated £500 to benevolent causes. Also during the year the roof of the building was replaced at a cost of £29337, which is why our donations to outside causes was less than usual.
The Fellowship “website” www.emmauschristianfellowship.org.uk is used to publicise the ministry and work of the Fellowship and through this a number of positive contacts both at home and overseas have been made. Multimedia presentations are used during all our meetings and have proved to be a valuable method of furthering the aims of the Fellowship.
The Emmaus Christian Fellowship, Chorley is a member of the “Evangelical Alliance” and seeks to co-operate with other evangelical Christian organizations which engage in carrying out Christ's Great Commission to His Church.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts
Report to the Trustees of Emmaus Christian Fellowship Chorley
Charity Number 1023925
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31st March 2024, which are set out in pages 1 to 4 above.
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.
The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair” view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act: and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
have not been met: or
- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
