The Emmaus Christian Fellowship, Chorley is a registered, charity No. 1023925 whose instrument of government is a constitution, adopted on 19/11/92 and amended on 06/12/92 and 06/07/93.

The Fellowship meets in the Emmaus Chapel, Avondale Road Chorley, which is a registered place for Religious Worship, and is also registered for the solemnization of Marriages. The minister is the authorized person for registration on these occasions.

The Charity Trustees during the year to 31st March 2023 were:-

Mr John Atkinson-Brown; Pastor David Brown (Chairman); Mrs Alice Marion Brown; Mr Andrew Cecil Thomas. Mrs Ann Penketh and Mr Andrew Schack.

It is the responsibility of the AGM to appoint trustees and to confirm existing members in their offices.

The aims and objectives of the Fellowship are the advancement of religion through the pursuance of New Testament Christianity in carrying out the "Great Commission" given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples to preach the Gospel to every creature, and to provide spiritual and practical support for people in need.

The charity is funded by the free-will tithes, gifts and offerings donated by those attending the fellowship. The majority of these donations are made under the HMRC “Gift Aid” Scheme and last year the amount donated under the “Gift Aid” scheme amounted to £18039. The income tax refunded under the scheme amounted to £3863. The ability of the Fellowship to carry out its aims and objectives is greatly facilitated by the fact that all those involved in the work of the charity render their services in an unpaid capacity.

The Emmaus Christian Fellowship facilitates the assembling together of believers for praise and worship. The Fellowship meets for praise, worship and communion at 10-30 am each Lord’s Day. and holds a family service at 5-45pm. A Bible and Prayer Fellowship is held between 7-30 and 9-30 pm every Thursday evening.

The Fellowship continues to reach out to the local community in a variety of ways seeking to show love and compassion to those in need. To this end, the Youth Fellowship for young people of Secondary School age meets on Fridays from 7-15 until 9-00pm.

.The Fellowship operates a Child Protection Policy under the umbrella of the CCPAS and all who are involved in the various Children/Youth activities are CRB checked at regular intervals as are the trustees of the Fellowship.

During the last 12 months we were saddened by the passing of three of our founder members, Mrs Marion Corless, Miss Jean Halton and Mrs Ann Penketh who are now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

The Emmaus Christian Fellowship remains fully committed to Christian missionary enterprise, and during the last twelve months a total of £18,760 given to various missions and ministries. The total given too missions since the formation of Emmaus Christian Fellowship, Chorley now stands at £498,309. This year, the Fellowship also donated £440 to benevolent causes.

The Fellowship “website” www.emmauschristianfellowship.org.uk is used to publicise the ministry and work of the Fellowship and through this a number of positive contacts both at home and overseas have been made. Multimedia presentations are used during all our meetings and have proved to be a valuable method of furthering the aims of the Fellowship. .

The Emmaus Christian Fellowship, Chorley is a member of the “Evangelical Alliance” and seeks to co-operate with other evangelical Christian organizations which engage in carrying out Christ's Great Commission to His Church.
