MOTTRAM ST ANDREW PRIMARY ACADEMY PTA
AGM: 12[TH] OCTOBER 2022
CHARITY ACCOUNTS
The Mottram St Andrew Primary Academy PTA account financial period originally ran from 1st May to 30th April. The Charity Commission Annual Return for the year 2020-2021 was submitted in February 2022 (copy attached) in accordance with guidelines issued by the Charity Commission.
I have updated the financial reporting period for this year to run until 31st August 2022. Going forward, this will mean the PTA financial period will run from 1st September to 31st August, and will more accurately reflect what we have raised during the academic year. The Charity Commission Annual Return for the year 2021-2022 will be due by June 2023. An independent examination will be required of the accounts (copy attached), which I shall arrange.
ACCOUNT OVERVIEW
As the PTA financial period does not currently correspond to our fundraising period, I have included two overviews:
The opening balance of the PTA account on 1st May 2021 was £530.65. The closing balance on 31st August 2022 was £25,166.45. The total income during this period was £30,186.70, and total expenditure was £5,550.90. These figures will be submitted for the Annual Return.
The opening balance of the PTA account on 1st September 2021 was £2,452.30. The closing balance in August 2022 was £25,166.45. Income totalled £28,236.37. Total expenditure was £5,522.22. A copy of the individual events’ income/expenses is attached.
SUMMARY OF FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES
Autumn Term 2021
After a couple of quiet years due to Covid, the last school year brought a welcome return to ‘in-person’ events. A Halloween Dress Up Day, Christmas Jumper Day and Bonfire Night Bake Sale raised over £1000 profit, and we also had the usual Christmas Cards, Bags 2 School and Easy Fundraising Payments, raising another £400 between them. The Christmas Raffle was the most successful in the last three years, making over £3,200 profit. The Oakwood Pub also held a Christmas Event and generously donated £290 from this to the PTA.
As is customary, the PTA bought Christmas gifts for all classes, spending just over £220 on these.
Spring Term 2022
The funds raised via Just Giving in 2020-2021 were transferred from the school account, and totalled £9,598.68, which accounts for the very healthy end of year balance. We had smaller, fun events for the children this term; a Smarties Change Challenge, Valentines Bake Sale, Mother’s Day Cards and Guess the Number of Easter Eggs. These raised over £1100. We also raised £100 from Playground Portraits.
The two most successful events this term were a quiz and auction run at the Oakwood Pub, and ‘Logs for Bogs’, which saw Adele and Adam Jacques selling bags of logs locally, with proceeds going to the PTA. These events raised over £1600 each, and I would like to thank them again for their time, generosity and support.
Our spending this term was for class Easter gifts and the year 6 Leavers Hoodies, which totalled just over £500.
Summer Term 2022
We had a few events at the beginning of the term; a Barrecore event, ice lolly sale and sport’s day coffee van donation, totalling £265.45. However, the most exciting event was the school fair, which returned after three years of Covid-related restrictions. It was an incredibly enjoyable afternoon for everyone, and made a massive £4,127.84 profit. I’d like to thank everyone involved in making the fair a success: the PTA members (past and present), school staff, parents who helped on stalls, and local businesses and families who contributed.
PTA INVENTORY
We do not have one location to store the PTA-related effects, e.g. decorations, fair games, stationary, marquees and second-hand uniform. The current inventory is attached and includes the PTA members who are holding the items.
CURRENT PROJECTS
For the last couple of years, the PTA has been concentrating on one big project – raising funds for the refurbishment of the toilets in the main school building. Now that we have raised our target amount of £20,000 and the Covid restrictions from the past few years have lifted, we hope to organise even more events for both the school and village communities to enjoy, as well as continue to raise funds to benefit the children at Mottram School.
