HARVEST CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP TRUST
ANNUAL TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021
Harvest Christian Fellowship Trust ("the Charity") is constituted by Deed of Trust and is a UK registered charity, No. 1023591. Its address is at 72 Chelsham Road, South Croydon, Surrey CR26HY ("the Harvest Centre").
The Charity trustees during the year to 31 December 2020 were:
Mrs Christine Gillian Dutton – Chair and Secretary Mr John Panteli - Treasurer Mr Ronald Campbell Mrs Alice Long
New Trustees are nominated by the four members of the leadership team (which during the year included two of the Trustees), they are then elected by a majority vote by the existing Trustees at that time.
The objectives of the Charity are primarily the promotion of the Christian faith by provision of a place of worship and the carrying out of religious services, which it does on Sunday and, in different forms, throughout the week. The trust also administrates much of the Harvest Community Network, an association of churches in the UK, as well as administrating the national Fresh Conference each February. The relief of poverty through practical and financial assistance, preparation and broadcast of Christian teaching material and overseas community support make up a large part of the trust's other activities and expenditure. Prior to the lockdown and other restrictions as a result of Covid-19, examples of the local community work included assistance with local homeless shelters and a Big Lunch community day. Overseas community support included supporting projects in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe by providing funds to build a community chicken farm in Harare, refurbishing a safe house for street children in Ratundo and building a community Centre in Millennium Park near Kwekwe. However, as with 2020, the work of Harvest Christian Fellowship Trust was much affected this year with the Covid Lockdowns and restrictions on church gatherings. There was again a significant loss of income due to Centre Hire reductions.
We almost broke even with a loan of £1350 still outstanding, owing to Pastor Ronnie Campbell. The church met virtually for much of our programmes using Zoom and Livestream. No trips to Zimbabwe, of course although Pastor Ronnie has continued to teach the students there using Zoom. Likewise the teaching of students in ILC Wolverhampton has continued using Zoom.
The trustee's policy is to ensure the highest quality community care is available to beneficiaries and that the Christian faith is advanced through the effective preaching and teaching of the Christian message. The Charity is staffed by a full time pastor who also acts as an administrator to administer the objects of the charity.
The charity’s income is currently achieved from congregational giving, private donations and hire of its property; this income then pays for the furtherance of its objectives and the carrying out of all other activities related to the church. Sufficient reserves are held to fund the day-to-day activities of the Charity. All funds are used to fulfil the objectives of the Charity. The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to Charity Commission guidance on Public Benefit.
The charity has made use of the services of a qualified accountant to produce the accounts which have been the subject of an independent review in accordance with Charity Commission Guidance Note CC56.
For and on behalf of the Trustees,
John Panteli Trustee (Treasurer)

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021
I report on the statement of financial affairs of the Harvest Christian Fellowship Trust for the year ended 31 December 2021, on pages 5 to 7.
Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 43 of the 1993 Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act
-
have not been met ; or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
