A healthy waiting list for the following school year is also in place. The preschool provides a varied, interesting and informative Early Years education and childcare for children aged between 2 and 4 years from Portland and surrounding area. The setting is open term time only, providing a Monday to Friday service from 9 am to 3 pm.

The preschool’s last Ofsted inspection was in May 2022 and was rated Good with Outstanding in attitudes and behaviour.

The links and relationships between our preschool, other preschools and other primary schools in the area has strengthened with regards to communication and sharing of information and we currently enjoy a friendly and professional partnership. We run a transition group with the primary schools in the summer term with the purpose of preparing the children for school transition. Other links to the schools include annual sports day, Easter bonnet parade and annual Teddy Bear’s picnic.

We welcome all children within the age range, regardless of personal circumstance, gender, faith, cultural background and lingual ability. We work with other agencies such as SALT etc, to give all children the best start in life.

Parents, staff and committee members have played a vital part in fundraising events this year including a music festival, an Easter egg hunt, sponsored Elf run and book and cake sales. The money is greatly accepted enabling the preschool top up it’s resource, set up a forest school area, provide Cultural Capital and set up a new enclosed canopy.

The preschool employs 8 members of staff. We have 5 committee members.

Hot meals are optional at the setting at a cost of £3.00. They consist of a healthy, balanced main meal such as jacket potatoes, pasta and fish dishes. A piece of fruit and a dessert are also included in the lunch price. The manager is the main cook and has

completed an advance food hygiene course. The hot meals have proven popular with both children and parents over the past few years and will continue as a non-profit making lunch time option. Children who wish to bring a healthy lunch box from home are welcome too

Regular staff training has taken place throughout the year as required.
