**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

To provide high quality sessional care for children aged 2 – 5 years. We provide a happy secure and stimulating environment for all children to play, learn and develop and promote a positive relationship with parents/carers sharing and discussing the children’s achievements. The Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit is always kept in mind at trustee meetings throughout the year. As always providing a safe and secure environment for children aged 2-5 years old to learn and develop in is our main priority. Children are encouraged to grow as individuals and we have a generous staff to child ratio. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance in our playschool and report on a regular basis to parents/carers through conversation and through a detailed file

we hold for each child on how they are developing at playschool alongside the EYFS We prepare children for their next stage in life, going on to primary education and all our children enjoy an inside/outside environment. The children currently bring their own healthy snacks every day and a pack up for those children attending full days. All children are welcome from any background aged 2-5years and we have a good mix of children from different backgrounds. The playgroup is greatly supported by our local community and parents/carers. We have also offered opportunities for young people to gain work experience through placements linked with local colleges.

**Summary of the main** All our trustees undertake work for the charity on a voluntary basis and **activities undertaken for the** have an excellent relationship with parents/carers and staff. Section D Achievements and erformance p 2019 – 2020 year has been a very different year for the playschool. Due **Summary of the main** to the COVID-19 pandemic the playschool had to close its doors in March **achievements of the charity** 2020 and did not reopen them till the new academic year in September **during the year** 2020. Many of the normal events that would have taken place unfortunately was cancelled. The playschool staff continued to stay in touch with the families and offer support through phone calls, texts and providing home learning packs for the children. We were able to fund a Christmas party for the children complete with music, games, food and small Christmas presents for the children with a voluntary father Christmas appearance. The children also took part in a nativity which friends and family can come to watch, this is part of our fundraising and the children did a brilliant job with thanks to the staff for managing another production with toddlers! Although our year was very short the fundraising that has taken place has been positive, our annual Christmas Nativity is a family favourite and Santa’s Sleigh around the village always brings a smile to faces, with the added bonus of a children’s music workshop. During the time we were open the families and friends are so incredibly supportive and generous with their time and donations. We continue to let families know how much was raised at our events and identify specific trips or activities that will be funded by the money raised, so that families know how their donations will be spent. Our other events such as Easter, and sports day were unfortunately cancelled due to lockdowns and social distancing rules so no fundraising was able to take place between March 2020 to September 2020 We was able to fund the transport for a trip to the Pink Pig farm this year and parents were happy to make a contribution towards the entry fees because of the experience the children get out of these trips. There were a large number of leavers this year from the playschool, all of which moved up to the village primary school. Unfortunately, we were unable to celebrate the next stage in these children’s lives in our normal way. The children were invited to the school for a week of taster sessions in order to familiarise themselves. The transition was a great success with all the children settling very well and very quickly. We were all very proud of the feedback received by the school. Our staff and trustees take good opportunity of all the courses that are offered to them through the local council. Some of these have included food hygiene and safeguarding which are essential for running the playschool.
