The Lea School Association (LSA)
organises events and raises funds for the
school, to be spent on things that the
school budget cannot pay for. We have two
aims.. firstly, to raise money to benefrt our
children and secondly, to promote the
strong sense of communty that exists
be￿een
arents, children and staff.
The LSA successfully organised our
regular range of events during the period-
school discos, seasonal fairs, film nights
and quiz night for the enjoyment of our
school community. parents, children and
staff.

Our volunteers give their time freely to the
organisation. Some volunteers also donate
prizes for our raffles. There is a voluntary
contribution scheme where volunteers,
school

needed funds for the Lea Primary School
and Nursery. These donations ar8

Achievements and Performance
SORP reference
All events were run successfully and
without incident. raising a net income of
£6,556. Events included Christmas wreath
making workshops, discos, raffles, film
nights, a quiz night and the suc￿Ssful
summer fair.
Other sources of income to the PTA bank
account in the financial year were KindLink
donations, Amazon Smile, Easy
Fundraising. and one-off dorbations from
individuals. KindLink donations and
donations from individuals were transferred
to the school bank account on a monthly
basis, all other income was retained in the
account. Gift Aid was reclaimed from
HMRC for KindLink donations (transferred
to school in arrears) and for events such as
non-uniform days under the GASDS
scheme (retained in the PTA account).
Amazon Smile ceased to operate in
February 2023.
The three main expenditures in the
financial year were the Wellbeing Hub,
iPads for Key Stage 2 and purchase of
whole class reading schemes. The
construction of the Wellbeing Hub involved
converting a shipping container into a
purpose-built classroomlmeeting
spacelintervention area and cost £6,000
funded by the PTA directly with a £12.500
grant awarded by the Harpenden Trust.
The iPads cost £6,170 and were funded by
a £740 parent donation with the remainder
coming from profits from fundraising
events. The PTA contributed £1.500
towards the class reading schemes {book
purchase) introduced by Mr Berry. Again.
this year, we decided to donate £50 lo each
class in the school at Christmas. This was
to be spent wherever the teacher felt it was
needed. whether resources, stationary or
treats for a class
