**Activities:** The First Step Appeal exists to support the medical care of children and adults with neurological and orthopaedic disability.  Its primary function was to support the foundation of a gait and movement laboratory in the University of Nottingham.  It has supported other endeavours in Nottingham children's orthopaedics.
