Objectives and activities
The Purpose of Scouting
Scouting exists lo actively engage and SLtpport young people
in their personal development,
empowering them lo make a positive contn'blttion to society.
Summary of the objects of the charity set
out in its goveming document
The Values of Scouting
As Scouts we are guided by these values..
Integrity - We act with integrity", we are honest, trustworthy
and loyal.
Respect- We have self-respect and respect for others.
Care - We support others and take care of the world in which
we live.
Belief - We explore our faiths, beliets and attitudes.
co-operation - We make a positive difference, we co-
operate with others and make friends.
The Scout Method
Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with
adults, work together based ors the
values of Scouting and..
enjoy what they are doing and have fun
- take part in aclivf(ies indoors and outdoors
learn by doing
share in spiritual reflection
take responsibility and make Choices
undertake new and challenging activities
- make and live by their Promise.
Summary of the main activities in relation
to these objects
The group runs 1 Beaver colony for 6-8 year olds, 2 Cub
packs for 8-10 year olds and 1 Scout group for 10-14 year
olds. Membership across these lolalled 75 young people
across the reporting period.
Usually sections meet OTr￿ a week in school temi times and
deliver a programme of activities that are appropTrately
tailored lo provide that age group with 8 balance of challenge,
learning, physical activity and fun. However for much of this
year face to face scouting was unable to take place due lo
the impacts of Covid. This included both government
guidance that restricted our abilty to conduct meeting5 as well
as the impact of shielding and illness on our volunteers. The
group rose lo this challenge, with the support of Swuting UK,
by delivering on-line section nights when face lo face meeting
was not possible, and meeting outside for socially distanced
activities when guidance allowed.

Achievements and performan¢e
Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the year
Despite the challenges of Covid the group remained active
with the major*ty of members choosing to remain involved
even though activities were often restricted lo online only. We
moved lo a voluntary contributions model for subseripb'ons in
acknowledgement of the reduced programme bul income
remained sufficient to cover costs.
The group used the downtime in use of the building to
undertake some longstanding maintenance tasks including
painting the main hall and re￿ptIOn areas and insulating the
loft lo ￿a￿ce both costs and carbon footprint.
Section E
FÉnancial Review
Brief slalement of the charity's policy on
reserves
Reserrfes Pollcy
The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources
to Continue the charitable activities of the group should
income and fundraising activities fall short. The Group
Executive Committee con51ders that the group should hold a
sum equivalent to 12 months running costs, circa £3,500.
The Group held resewves of approximately £55,000 against
this at year end. This is above the level required for operating
expenses. However this can be explained by red￿￿d running
costs during the financial year (due lo Covid) and savings that
have been accrued foi planned investment in upgrading the
Scout HQ over the coming years.

consequence does not have sufficient funds lo invest in
longer-term investrnenls such as stocks and shares. The
Group has therefore adopted a low risk strategy to the
investment of its funds. All funds are held in cash using only
mainstream banks or building societies or The Scout
Association's Short Term Investment Service.
how expenditure has supported the key
objectives of the charity.,
The Group Executive regularly monitors the levels of bank
balances and the interest rates received lo ensure the group
obtains maximum value and income from its banking

account that requires a period of notice before funds may be
withdrawn, before doing so the Group Executive considers
